What if I just want to lose 1 pound?

So, I'm thinking I need small goals. Luckily, I have returned to my pre-Halloween weight, but now I would like to start heading towards my real goal weight. I feel like I have been sitting at 125 lbs for 2 years now and would just like to see 1 pound leave at a time. I do Zumba once per week, walk to and from work 3 days per week and I teach hula hooping class 1 day per week. I don't think I over indulge on food and save alcohol for weekends. Not sure what else I could do.

I lose 1 lb overnight all the time. Generally gain it back and then lose it again throughout the week - normal fluctuations.
Is your goal really to go from 125 to 124?? That's it? Or do you want to lose body fat? Do some body recomp? When you're that close to goal weight, that's often when it comes down to - less about the scale, more about losing fat/inches, or changing the shape of the body through weight lifting. And no, not body building type lifting, but that resistance training helps give the body that firm, solid, fit look many are looking for.
Small calorie deficit to lose fat, aim to get plenty of protein and healthy fats, and grab some heavy stuff.0 -
Weigh every hour for the next 24 hours. I can almost guarantee that at one point you'll be 1 lb lighter than at some other point.0

you never heard of the legend of dumper Nick?0 -
She said one pound at a time. Not her ultimate goal weight is 124... Y'all do not read. Lol
How tall are you? And how much do you want to lose?0 -

Your diary is closed, so can't tell....but I would keep your macros tight. How far to/from work do you walk? 5mi one way? 3 blocks? Teaching hula hooping sounds fun.0

Amy R. - that's good advice that I probably need to do more of. What happens is I seem to fluctuate between 127 and 125 within a week's time. I just want to hit 124 and stay there for a few days and fluctuate to 126 and then lose another pound and so on and so forth. Just when I think I'm on a roll, I gain again.0

This is normal weight fluctuation.0 -
I am 5'2" and over 40 yo. I would like to be back down to 118-120. I have been bad about doing a diary, but I'm hoping to get back on track to see the scale go down.0

your body weight fluctuates about +/- five pounds ..
so you are not gaining …
lift heavy and eat more ….0 -
Eat at a deficit.
Use a food scale to be sure your really eating at a deficit.

Skip a lunch?
Seriously, if I just quit eating for a day on a high mileage (running) day, I'd lose a pound.0 -
I still don't understand this question. I agree with making a BM0

Eventually, I want to lose more like 7 pounds. But, I can't seem to even lose 1 pound after 2 years of trying. I'm thinking if I can just figure out how to lose 1 pound then I use that knowledge/those habits to lose the other 6 pounds. I can't seem to find the right formula to even lose 1 pound.0

Enter your profile information and goals so that you will lose about 1/2 pound per week. MFP will suggest a maximum calorie amount for you.
For 1 week, track everything you eat. Everything. Weigh and measure it. Don't guess. After the first day or two, make every effort to eat less than what MFP suggests as your maximum for the rest of the week.
You won't likely see much of a change in that first week.
Do it again for a second week. By the end of the second week, if you have faithfully tracked everything and have genuinely come in under the suggested maximum ... you should have lost your 1 lb.

I'm gonna try tracking my food more consistently and see where that takes me. I don't feel like I'm overdoing it, but clearly I am.0

I hear you. I've been losing and gaining the same 2 pounds for a year now. BUT I know I'm not trying like I could be. I still eat at a deficit, but only a small deficit. And I lift weights. You said you weren't counting your calories. I think you just need to get back to that "weight loss" mindset. Because I know that's what I need to do too.0
