Not full? Or just not satisfied?

So I have been doing everything I can to stick to a plan. Resisting almost every urge to eat all the things I normally just shove. But now when I get home at the end of the night all I wanna do is raid the kitchen, but I am not sure if it's because I am not full or just not satisfied by what I have eaten?!?! How do I tell the difference and keep on track? I don't want to fail like I have every other time.

What helps me is making sure I get enough protein and staying away from simple carbs mostly. Try eating lean protein for lunch and snack before you get home from work and see if you are not as hungry after work. I suggest greek yogart, hard boiled eggs, peanut butter on celery, nuts, cheese sticks, stuff like that. Simple carbs - candy, cake, cookies will just make you feel hungrier an hour after you eat them. This works well for me. Hope it helps you.

Try a journal, maybe. Rate your hunger, mood or emotions, stress level, if there is something specific you're craving, how many net calories, and the time. And if you eat something, did it help. I always save enough calories for a Greek yogurt or 2, or similar in the evenings.

This took a while for me to get over. For me I have to eat a lot of bulk food to fill me up when I go through that. I found it I do a high calorie, high fat breakfast it helps me all day. For bulk food at night a half to a tbs of oil and an big mixed veggie stir fry can really help. Also try cauliflower rice with a little butter and parmesan or asiago. It tastes like its bad, and helps me when I am craving something savory like chips.

When I'm not satisfied, even if I'm full, I'll still have that craving.

I've found that what works for me is allowing myself to still have "treats" daily as long as I fit them into my calorie limit. I only avoid foods that I can't have just serving one of like cheddar Ruffles! This has also helped to keep me from total binge days. Hope you find what works for you!
