Muscle soreness with 21 day fix

Hi everyone. My husband and I started the 21 day fix on Monday. Prior to this, neither one of us have been exercising. Especially me, as I have a desk job and sit all the time.
Things are going well so far. A few weeks prior to starting this, I had given up soda so that helped ease into it. I actually feel like I'm eating more food than I used to (except for in the evenings, when I used to snack on things that were bad for me).
I am just curious, how long does muscle soreness on average last? I of course knew I'd be pretty sore given that I don't exercise. Should I expect this to last for a couple weeks, since every day on the program is sort of working a different muscle group?
Thanks for listening to my newbie question!

21 Day Fix is a BeachBody program, right? I can't speak to that specific program, but, in general, resisted cardio is going to hurt when you're not used to using those muscles. If you were to work out once and then stop the program, that one workout might leave you sore for a week. Since you do the routines multiple times a week, you may be sore for the entire program.
There are ways to help with the muscle soreness. Stretch extensively before and after the workout. Some people swear by foam rollers. Drink plenty of water before during and after your workout. If you have a specific area that is hurting, an ice pack can help, as can a low dose pain killer.
You may be doing too much too fast. Going from no workout to high workout is a recipe for injury, especially if you're carrying extra weight. You might want to cut back on the program exercises and incorporate some walking into your routine and build up some stamina.0 -
Yep, it's Beachbody. The exercise program with the system is set up so you are exercising every day. Each day is different. Cardio one day, upper, lower, pilates, more cardio, "dirty 30", then yoga. The "rest" day is the yoga day. If I feel like I'm unable to do something, I just follow the modifier or take a quick break or even do less reps/go more slowly.
Thanks for the advice!0 -
I was pretty sore the whole first week, a little less so during week 2, then week 3 barely sore at all the next day. I just started my second round on Monday and feel great! As your body gets used to working out, it's less sore afterwards.0
