Exactly.
I wish Dr. Oz would be banned from TV0 -
ok but fyi the one I'm on I eat between 1600 to 2000 calories a day and have lost 3.5kg (7 pounds) in 5 weeks. I haven't even been exercising. So they may be a load of baloney but this one f***** works. Plus I didn't advocate any 'product' I just said liver cleanse.0

Yes, a calorie deficit works. What does that have to do with a "liver cleanse"?0 -
well i was on 1200 cals for four months and didn't lose a gram. ... that is a bigger calorie deficit than 1600 and yet now I'm losing steadily. Boom0

So you're saying that a "liver cleanse" can actually circumvent the rules of how your body uses and consumes energy? That is impressive. I'm sure if a liver cleanse can allow this, we'll soon be seeing the studies documenting it.0 -

F*** science! I want to know now! What are the rules of this amazing diet?0 -

The Liver Cleansing Diet by Sandra Cabot, MD -- if this is the one that Mitimum is following -- promotes the purchase of a liver cleansing pill or powder, manufactured by?
You guessed it!
Sandra Cabot, MD.

There are a few basic things to avoid.
- Red meat (you can still have chicken and fish)
- Dairy
- Gluten
- Sugar (except naturally occurring sugar such as fruit and honey)
- Foods high in trans-fats and highly processed or 'junk' food.
- Refined carbohydrates (can have whole grains that don't contain gluten)
- I also drink water with lemon juice in it in the morning and throughout the day to help boost metabolism0 -

So you removed sugars, dairy, and processed foods for this "liver cleanse" and are loosing weight? Congratulations, you're in a deficit and your weight loss has nothing to do with a cleanse. You just removed a lot of the calorie dense foods from your diet and replaced them with low calorie high volume foods, so you're eating less calories.0 -
If you only had 10 lbs to lose, then perhaps it's less about he weight and more about the way you want to look. If so, worry less about the scale, and work on exercises that will deal with the body appearance issues that concern you. Those may change to your liking, even when the scale doesn't budge!
5 pounds isn't that much to be honest, if it's a look you're after! The workouts you're doing will help you there and are probably already helping, although the scale may not be allowing you to see the changes that have already happened!0 -

So you removed sugars, dairy, and processed foods for this "liver cleanse" and are loosing weight? Congratulations, you're in a deficit and your weight loss has nothing to do with the supplements. Save your money on the supplements and don't change your diet, you'll thank me later.
Did you not read ANY of my other posts. I am eating MORE calories now than I was before the diet and I was eating super healthy then anyway and I am NOT TAKING SUPPLEMENTS. I'm out. If you lot think the body works in such a simplistic fashion as 'calories in - calories out' then you are extremely closed minded and a bit thick. I only originally posted to help the OP but this is totally not worth it.0 -

The first law of thermo dynamics states that you are not eating more than you were and losing more weight without changing your activity level. So either you're lying or you are not counting your calories accurately.0 -

Except the reality is you weren't actually eating 1200 but considerably more. Now you're on a restrictive diet that makes it harder for you to introduce errors into your count because it removes the foods you were undercounting.

You do realize that is zero impact on metabolism?
Regarding the eating more calories now vs previous, I would have to question your logging practices (did you use a food scale, did you log daily, etc..) and if you had any hormonal issues/medical issues (PCOS, Hypothyroidism, etc...). It's potential by removing some of the above, you either became more aware of your calories make you more consistent or you are one of the few people who have an issue with one or more of the above.
Also, do you understand the differences between metabolism, thermal effect of food (TEF) and total daily energy expended (TDEE)? I only ask this because very few things affect metabolism (mainly genetics and body composition (more muscle = faster metabolism)) regardless of what a package on the back of a pill bottle would suggest. And like I stated previously, fat burners generally just have caffeine which means it can burn a few extra calories. But surely won't burn an additional 400+ like you are eluding to by saying you are eating 400-800 more calories now.

To quote a poster in another thread, reading this thread gave me a facepalm concussion.
