How do you do it?

My last weight loss journey happened when I was by myself. I lived alone, I was going to school, and it went well.
This time I'm trying to balance a family and family issues.
My parents are going through a bad divorce and are bringing the kids into it, pinning sides and at this point I want to stress eat.
i also live with my partner and her daughter. They don't eat healthy foods and I'm having a hard time resisting temptation. The daughter always wants to watch tv in the living room and I feel like the bad guy to tell her no when I need to do my work out videos (I've been doing insanity).
i honestly don't know how to balance and I'm losing motivation.

It's time to set some boundaries, I think.
When your parents try to bring you into their divorce or even try to vent to you, you have every right to shut that down.
"This is between you and Dad. Please leave me out of it."
"This isn't appropriate to discuss with me. I love both you and Mom and I'm not getting involved in this."
If they continue to push, just say "Well, gotta go now. Bye!"
You may need to talk to your partner and agree on a time each day that you get to use the TV. Whether it's a workout or a cheesy program, you have the right to choose what you watch part of the time.
If that's not an agreement you can come to, maybe you can agree on a household budget that allows the purchase of a small TV and DVD player that you can use in another room.
Please don't let other people's issues with boundaries interfere with your success! You have every right to stand up for yourself here!0 -
You can't change anyone else not your partner nor her daughter but you aren't doing this for anyone other than yourself. Can you make meal time family time where the 3 of you eat together rather than the daughter eating in front of the tv? I know it's not always possible but if you can its a nice bonding experience. Second sounds like you need to schedule your work out time and ask your partner and her daughter to keep that time open for you to do your workout! It's not easy dealing with outside influences especially family but it's reality hopefully over time your partner and her daughter will come around and start to follow your lead on your journey to be healthy! Stay strong you deserve this!0

Sorry OP, but you are blaming everyone for your situation. Take ownership and make it happen. So far as your household, you are the adult.0

Family life can complicate things, but it doesn't make them impossible. It's not unfair of you to use the TV for an hour a day for yourself - and if your partner doesn't agree I'm thinking there's a bit of a problem. Co-parenting involves you both being on the same page. If this is a long-term relationship then you are co-parenting. As for your parents - definitely set your own boundaries there. Simply state "I'm not choosing sides, please stop asking me to." They need to grow up and handle their divorce independent of their kids. I did it and my kids are happy and undivided as a result. So that's their short-coming not yours. Good luck. Make a plan, be direct and do it. It's the only way.0
