Hi there,
In an attempt to starve off any potential future waning of my enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle, I thought I'd introduce myself and say hi.
Recently signed up here after getting a metaphorical slap in the face from the doctor when he diagnosed GERD and NASH and he said I need to drop about 60 lbs or look forward to the additional consequences of excess weight in the coming years.
Myfitnesspal was recommended to me, and I have found the first week surprisingly easy. It's quite a motivator to see just many calories I take in munching on a few cookies, and how long it takes to work them off!
I was very skinny in my 20's (150lbs at 6'1) but after managing to give up cigarettes and alcohol after many years, turned my attention to food. Now, I need to deal with the consequences of too much eating.
Reading through the posts in the success stories show some really amazing effort, and I hope to one day be able to do the same myself.
Cheers and best wishes to all!
P.S. excuse my terrible photo, it was a scanned in passport photo that I just happened to have spare when I signed up. Maybe I'll do a full body pic when I have results to compare it against

It sounds like you're off to a great start! I think logging calories makes it a lot easier to remind myself that I'm not hungry, just bored. Hopefully it continues to work for you. Reach out here on the site if you ever need encouragement!0

Welcome to MFP. I have found this to be a very encouraging and helpful site. I have strayed away in the past from it and then struggled, but when it is time for me to get serious again, such as now, I always come right back here. I have found I cannot do it alone, I need and love the support that I get here and it helps me to remain accountable. Good luck!0
