Yesterday I cleaned the house from top to bottom (it needed it!)- vacuuming/dusting etc for about 90 mins which MFP reckons is 290 calories. This does seem rather high but I "ate" (and drank!) back my extra calories in the evening and now I am a bit worried :/

Does anyone else count things like cleaning and gardening into their exercise cals?

If I do out of the ordinary cleaning, I will count some of the time but not all of it. For example if I clean for 2 hours, I would count 30 minutes. I would then eat those calories.

Some people don't count any some people will count all. You just need to monitor yourself and then adjust as you see fit.

    Hope this helps :)

I agree, I never quite trust MFP Calories. It depends on what you set your level of base fitness at. If you are typically sedentary, then 90 mins of cleaning is a real work out for you. If you are moderately active anyway... not so much.

I always halve what they say I am burning and eat those calories. So it says I burned 200, I eat 100 extra.

Everyone is different, so if you are still losing whilst eating those calories, then that would suggest that the calorie estimate is correct for you.

Not sure if any of this helps! Keep at it, I still have 20lbs to lose by July....off for a country Hike today!
