At your weight, an hour of walking at that speed is about 350 net calories.
A food scale - plus a willingness to use it - reveals all. Good luck!

My other question is that would change carb proteins etc correct
Yes, if you are eating (for example) 161 calories of something rather than 100, switching to logging accurately will also carry through to your fat/protein/carbohydrate balances.

So do you weigh chicken before or after cooking?0

I just had some grilled chicken - looked small till I weighed it - 160 grams ! Its amazing how much food weighs and the calories ! Especially " hidden " calories like sauces etc!0

Calorie estimates are deceived by your weight, 2.8 mph is not fast walking and unless you're going uphill I seriously doubt it's 500. Your aerobic fitness is probably somewhat impaired (like mine and many overweight people).
2554 is too high in my opinion, at your weight you can eat less. You said you weren't losing weight, which implies you need to eat less surely ?0 -
Walmart has food scales for cheap, like 10$. Definitely start by getting a food scale0

with his current weight (he's the same height as me) 1600 will give him a faster loss rate that is easily sustainable from his resources. If weight starts with a 3 then there's no need to *kitten* foot around with small deficits.

Weighing chicken raw (any meat/poultry) is best, but there are also cooked entries in the MFP data base too.0

MB_Positif wrote: »Nearly every response in here has stressed me out. The OP absolutely does not need to lower to 1600 calories. What kind of arbitrary crap is that? The OP said MFP gives them 2500+ to lose. Based on their current weight 2200 is possibly even too low with approximately 500 burned calories putting them at a net of 1700. Think and get more details before you irresponsibly tell people to starve themselves...especially after this is clearly not even a stall in weight loss.
Really? Nearly every response is stressing you out? The overwhelming majority of responses here have been to buy a food scale and start weighing food, followed by not trusting the exercise calorie suggestions offered by MFP's algorithm. This is all extremely solid advice and some you might want to take as well considering the generic kind of entries like Meatloaf - 1 slice and 1 Stromboli you have in your diary (kudos btw for keeping your diary open to the public, that really helps with accountability).
OP - Great choice on getting food scale. The amount of food I was actually eating blew my mind after I bought a scale. I recently bought a 2nd cheap one for my office. Good luck with your weight loss journey! I wish you much success.0 -
Also, btw, I realize how hypocritical my post is. Before it gets pointed out, yes, I was at a social function last night and was not able to weigh my food appropriately and had to give an estimate on calorie intake. Sucks, but sometimes that's what you've gotta do.0

Then how do you know how much you have burnt when walking0
