Hi short ladies....post menopausal....I am disappointed at my rate of weight loss and would love to get some support from a few ladies struggling along like me. Losing one pound a month is a great month for me, but I can deal with it and don't want to quit. I am 5'2", almost 57 years old. I started at 150 and am now at 142. I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes at Army double time pace (which is really not that fast) 2 or 3 times a week. I stopped walking outside when the cicadas invaded but will start again when they leave in about a week. Anybody out there in the same boat?

Hi there. I'm 4' 11" so can sympathise with the height issue. 40 this year so not hit the menopause yet but I know that the older you are the slower your metabolism works.

Firstly, well done you for having such a positive attitude. It is particularly difficult for us little ladies to take the pounds off cos our calorie needs are pretty low to start with but we can get there.

I am now doing cardio for 45mins to 1 hour 5 days per week and lifting 3 days per week. Sometimes I lose as much as a whole lb but mostly a bit less than that. I have lost 34lbs in the last year though and have built up to this much exercise slowly.

It is so worth it in the long run. I've got a bit more work to do but for the first time in a long time I'm starting to like the way I look and the way I feel.

So keep up the good work, try building up your time on that treadmill if you can and even when the progress is slow, remember that you will get there.

Thanks, Kirsty, and congratulations on your success! At 4'11" you have to work with a very low calorie requirement. I plan to increase to 45 minutes on the treadmill and to walk long distances outside. I can't stand the cicadas landing on me, though, and have drastically decreased my activity for the past 3 weeks. That problem will end soon.

    Hi,
I think I meet the parameters at just under 5' and age 49. It is slower going, particularly once menopause kicked in in January. I have been struggling to post any loss in inches or in weight since then, although my caloric intake has not significantly changed from a 1200 daily limit, nor my exercise intensity or frequency. I briefly tried to increase my cals to 1500 daily and there was no effect in the 2 weeks at 1500-other than a slight increase in waist measurement. I have since dropped back to 1200, but have made some recent changes to really emphasize eating clean, whole foods all the time, and started some DHEA and Keto 7 DHEA supplements to try to spur the old hormonal system into compliance. This morning saw a reduction of 1.5 lbs for the first time this year. As it is not my weigh in day, I'll wait to post assuming I can truly carry this loss into next week Wednesday.
My exercise routine is emphasized on weight training, ( I do mostly Olympic bar lifting, but also do accessory work, ) with as much cardio as I can stand, which isn't a lot. I have recently begun using TRX and heavy Kettlebells on the recommendation of one of my friends here on MFP for cardio vs elliptical machine.
If you are interested in adding me, feel free--happy to support my friends.

Hello Ladies, I am 4"11 and love using mfp as of January. I am post menopausal and find it a struggle to loose 1 lb. I am 60, walk 2 1/2 mi. everyday and take a low impact aerobics 2x's a wk. I started at 139 and now am down to 132. My calories are around 1200 and cut out carbs. I just feel like I'm stuck at 132 and would like to loose at least a lb. a week, being so short I really need to get under 130, but for a healthy BMI and weight my ideal goal should be 120. Best to you all. Sounds like we are all in the same boat, pls. friend me if you like and best to you all.
