I have been struggling with my motivation lately. I had been working out for 4-5 days a week for 8 months, and the last month I just haven't had the motivation to work out or eat right. What have you done when you are in a slump?

Maybe switch it up somehow? Do a new exercise routine or maybe spend two weeks eating clean, eating paleo, etc. Just something new to get you more engaged. No need to stick with it long-term, but it could help you find new healthy foods/new exercises that you'll enjoy.

sign up for a race. that'll put the focus on being ready for an event. instead of just exercising and eating right, you'll be training and fueling.

I've never had a lack of motivation since I started this processes after the first of the year. Not being a fat slob and the learning is what keeps me going.

Have you seen results from the hard work? The results are my motivation.

Change your routine, do a different workout.

I think some people make the mistake of trying to go from sedentary to a gym rat. This is a lifestyle change, not a sprint toward a finish line. Take it easy, be patient, and do what you enjoy.

look at old pictures from before you started. Think of how you felt about yourself back then and think about feeling like that again.

Definitely do something different at the gym (if that's where you go). Try a new class that you've never done to challenge yourself or get review with one of the instructors. Think of the fast approaching summer and how you want to look and feel...
