Nice sunny cold Monday morning in London - seems the right day/time to restart my new way of life with emphasis on the healthy food - I think planning will be the key word here. Was hoping that after watching Fat, sick and Nearly Dead 2 I would get the momentum to juice for 10 days - I did this after watching the first one - but this is not going to happen this time. 5:2 and 5:3 are very popular here - will give this a go. Really helpful to read all the posts. Happy Monday everyone.

I am so glad you didn't get the momentum to juice .. because that's bonkers
Yes if 5:2 is a lifestyle you want to pursue it can be very effective as long as you still ensure you are aware of your calorie consumption
You just need to find the process that works for you - personally I choose to track my calories over the week and eat everything as long as it works .. so some days I'll eat more, some days less .. but I won't cut out a food or food group.

I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly dead 2 the other day as well! I really like that guy and think he comes across well.
Seems to me the juicing thing gets misrepresented a lot of the time. While he did promote people going full juice for a while (a "reboot", what the hell?) I think thats just as a kickstarter. His main message was all about eating more fruit and veg (be that via juice or normal diet), and the benefits of the macro nutrients there in. Which isnt a bad message, in my opinion.
People love a gimmick, so if juicing gets them consuming healthier then its not all bad.
My hope would be said person gets fed up of juicing and just elects to eat the fruit and veg!
Ive never done it myself, though could see me adding juicing to my diet at times I want to get more fruit and veg than I otherwise would.
And, anecdotally, my uncle who has a terrible diet and rarely eats veg has been juicing and feels absolutely amazing right now. I suspect his nutrient intake has gone up 4x!0 -
After 10 days of juicing I felt better, my skin was clearer and of course I had lost weight (12 lbs). I made it too labour intensive though - my friend makes her juices simpler - carrots, cucumber, celeri and a whole lemon and apple - delicious. I intend to eat more vegetables, which I love, and have the occasional juice. I love home made soups but add too much salt.
I just wished I could juice again full time but the mindset is not there - so I agree with you, eating the vegetables and the fruit is the next best thing.
Best if luck in your endeavour to become fitter and healthier.
