Successful 60+ Women: Help me! Share your Secret!

I recently read on FB a post that said, "I wish I weighed now what I weighed when I thought I was fat." Wow! That's me! If you are a woman past menopause and are successfully losing weight, please share a typical day. Tell me what you eat and what excercise, if any, you are doing.
I am pre-diabetic, and my doctor has lowered the boom. Winging it every day isn't working. I need a plan, preferrably one that allows for a vice here and there, so I won't call it "cheating."
Stats: I'm 63, need to lose 35 lbs., preferrably 1 lb. a week. My MFP plan came in at 1450 calories per day, keeping the carbs to 180g (45g per meal, 15 per snack). It sounds easy, but it's not happening (she says while eating a pack of mini Chips Ahoy!).
I'd like to be a healthy grandmother some day.
So spill! Give me the secret to your success. How do you keep motivated?
(Men need not respond. It's different for guys, and I'm not looking for a date, thank you very much.)

Hello geboynton. I'm 56 and post menopausal with about 54lbs to lose so in a similar situation to you. I've been following 5:2 and have lost 1.4 kg in my first week without any problems. It allows me to eat just over 2000 calories 5 days a week but a very restrictive 500 calories just 2 days a week so it fits in with family commitments and a social life.0

Hi I am 55. At my heaviest I was 159. I was down to 136 but with the cold weather, staying in and eating comfort food I am back up to 142. Now that the weather is nice I am going to the gym. I have awful muscle tone. I know exercising and eating healthy is the key for me. I created a virtual walking group where a bunch of us add our weekly miles together and are virtually walking across the US. It been a fun motivational tool to help me get off my bum. You are welcome to join the group. Just message me if you are interested.0

Hi there, first off there is no secret or magic pill for weight loss, it is simply a lifestyle change. I'm 59 & started my journey about 2 yrs ago, joined MFP last June. I've been successful in my goals so far with about 3 lbs to my ultimate weight goal. I used to be a size XL, pant size 12/13, now I'm between a 0-2, size S or XS sometimes. I do cardio/cross training 4 days a week & also Yoga 2-3 days, eat mostly Paleo. Friend request me if you'd like. Good luck!
