I am a morbidly obese person, currently weighing 525lbs. I've had many failed attempts at losing weight, including diet, exercise, pills, shakes, south beach, adkins, weight watchers... the list can go on and on. I have decided to go the route of bariatric surgery, and am currently recuperating from having LAP-band surgery done.

I joined MFP to help me track my intake and exercise regimen. After joining this site, it occurred to me that it might also be helpful to befriend others who have a considerable amount of weight to lose.

I'm a 30 year old male, married, living in southwest Ohio. If anyone would like to be friends to help support each other through our mutual weight loss, I'm open for invites.

    Welcome Bigswank.

I applaud your courage at making some radical choices. I wish you only success.

I am also considered morbidly obese, but it took a picture of me to realize "HOLY CRAP I'M HUGE."

My first real goal is to get do the point where I'm no longer "morbidly obese" but merely "obese." Then we can take it from there.

I haven't had the band stuff, but man have I considered it.

I found that this site is *very* helpful to track my intake and exercise. The app is very neutral - it does not nag you or shame you. Just records what you're doing. And then you make your choices.

Sometimes the postings on the board can be a bit over-the-top, but that's because people are not apps. They have opinions and feelings and they know certain things that everyone else needs to know and agree with. So if you find that kind of post, just scroll by.

Good luck. Stay with us, and look at the future.
