If it's only once in awhile, probably won't hurt anything - but depends on how big a deficit you're on, how accurate you are with cals in and out, etc - a couple hundred over goal and you could still be in deficit.
Meanwhile, if it is preventing you from reaching your goals, find ways to avoid the snacking, or work those snacks into your daily allotment. Are you truly hungry, or just reaching for a snack out of habit or boredom? Is it thirst? Drink a big glass of water, wait at least 20 minutes and see if you still want that snack.0 -

You can't snack if you don't have the food available to snack on. Get rid of your snack food.

Amy is asking the right questions. My biggest issue is getting busy and waiting too long between meals, then I over eat, never feel full, and end up snacking on top of it all. Knowing why your doing this behavior is half the battle! Once you know why your doing this you can work to prevent it from happening.0

A couple ideas-
1. How big a deficit are you eating at? If you are trying to eat 1000 calories under TDEE every day and finding it tough, maybe try eating at 750 below TDEE instead. Sure it will take longer to lose the weight but you will be more likely to stick to it, too.
2. - You might try counting calories by the week, instead of by the day. If you go over one day by 200, then try to go under by 200 some other day.
3- If you have trouble with snacking try switching to water, tea, carrot sticks, celery... anything that's low calorie and will keep your mouth busy (It probably takes me an hour to eat 25 calories worth of celery)0 -
I find chewing gum helps with boredom eating.0

That's what I've done. We used to have chocolate and chips and things in the cupboard ... but no more. Now, if I want a snack, I have to go to the grocery store and get it. For me, that means walking there and back. By the time I think of the hassle and time it will take to get something, I can't be bothered.
If I really want something to eat, like I did this evening, I might have ... a pickle. Pickles are low cal.
