Stevia side effects?

Anyone have bad side effects from using stevia? I've been using it in my coffee for about a month and have been getting heart palpitations and dizziness once or twice a day. I have also been under a lot of stress, so I don't know exactly what's causing it. I wanted to quit splenda, but I never had any issues with it. I have decided to just quit both and use a teaspoon of sugar to see if makes a difference. I know sugar is the devil, but one teaspoon a day can't be all that bad right?

Sugar isn't the devil. Just log it and move on.
Personally I think stevia tastes horrible.0 -

Fresh stevia is delicious... I grew it in a pot last summer and used it raw in tea (one little leaf packs a really big sweet punch), but I hate the stuff in the packets. I brought the plant inside when fall came and it did just fine however it brought along a bunch of little white flies that infested our office so I eventually had to get rid of it. Apparently the bugs loved it as much as I did.
Not sure about the side-effects, you might want to do some independent research. Or else go cold turkey and see if you feel better in a month's time.0 -
I love my stevia! It could be stress or too much coffee not enough water. If I don't drink enough water and have too much coffee my heart goes nuts.0

Been using it for years. Never had any issues with it so far that I am aware of. Some of the powder forms do taste strange and have the lingering after taste. I switched to the flavored liquid forms and I love them. They taste great in my coffee and don't have the after taste. Give those a try. I love them in my iced tea and protein shakes as well.
Have heard that long term use may effect fertility in women, but please check that out for yourself. I don't know this to be fact.0 -
Been using Stevia for years, there are no "side effects".
As to aftertaste, many people use too much of it, try it with only a tiny amount.0 -
The aftertaste is horrible and it stays for hours. I've had ready made products with stevia that also left an aftertaste. I've grown it myself, used tiny amounts, you name it.
It's always possible there is an allergy. You should check all dietary changes made in the last month. See your doctor get a physical.0
