Exercising with TOM back pain

I've been having lower back since Thursday and I thought I had just overdone it at the gym. But, after a few days and other pre-TOM symptoms, I don't think it's from an injury. I've had problems with TOM back pain on and off for the past couple years, but not in any consistent manner. I went ahead and worked out Friday and Saturday since it wasn't too bad and thought that working through the mild discomfort would help and it didn't seem to get any worse. However, today is a rest day and the pain has gotten worse over the past 24 hours. I haven't even been able to stand-up really straight since Thursday. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a problem with TOM back pain and what you do about exercising.

I have some back pain; a couple of lumbar disks are damaged, so I have to keep up my self-physical therapy exercises.

Hate to sound ignorant: what is TOM?

I have to take pain killers for TOM pains..back pains ..etc.... ! Midol Extended relief .......aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh... pain gone. Ready to workout out.

If for some reason you can't take pain killers just take it easy, heat pouch..get comfy on a couch, get a good movie , just let rest .:flowerforyou:

Don't worry Strambo I didn't know what it was when I first saw it either, but TOM is Time Of Month.

I usually feel a lot better if I do cardio at the beginning because it helps with getting the circulation going, and with my mood, but what you are having sounds like you need major painkillers, or a visit to the doc.

  • The more I work out on a regular, consistent basis the better my symptoms get. I have some major problems with my TOM that is still requiring a doctors intervention but overall the weight loss and excercise have helped tremendously over the last 3 months.

When I started working out in January I had really hoped that it would relieve some of my TOM symptoms, but that hasn't happened. I usually workout 4-6 times a week and each session lasts 1-2 hours. My OB/GYN put me on a medication to help with the excessive heavy bleeding and cramps DURING, but I can't start it until I actually start. Unfortunately, it is taking me an unusually long time to start. And before you ask, no there is no possibility that I'm prego.
