Weight Loss Post ACL Surgery

I need to drop 20kg (or as close too) by June which is when I will be getting an Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction, I also have PCOS. I want to know the best excises to do as my knee hurts quite a bit after stationary bike, and is irritated after swimming. I need to loose this weight and diet alone isn't fast enough. I need ideas for what I can do, my *kitten* is also becoming a pancake which is quite annoying!! I can't squat any more because my knee is very unstable and feels like its going to give with my own body weight let alone adding weights. Has anyone else been in the same position? do I just pop a few pain killers before I do stationary bike? I have a gym membership and I want to use it!. I can do Zumba with minimal pain......but I don't think thats enough and its only twice a week.

Stop working out in pain. Check with your doctor or Physical Therapist for sure.
Look at chair or mat exercises.
Eat less because diet is more important for weight loss than working out is.0 -
I don't want loose skin! I'm quite big so I do need to do some strength/cardio0

To be honest with you Natkaye, I have PCOS too and there is no way your going to be able to drop 20kg by June, It's harder for us to lose weight and we do have excises to lose weight as a defect alone don't work for us. As this is a knee injury your very limited to what, go to youtube and look up chair excises, this will be low impact. maybe doing a strict keto diet will help you drop weight a little quicker. (personal I don't like keto)

I know i won't drop the 20kg, but I'm aiming to get close to it, to be fair I have had 7 months to do this and have been not serious about it... time went so quickly now surgery is in 3 months..... incoming to the party late but never the less I came. Chair excises may be a good option will have a youtube0

I need carbs.... I'm an angry emotional eater without them so Keto may not work well for me mentally....0

I think you may be able to lose about 1kg per week to be honest if you take your diet and exercise seriously. If your gym has a handbike you could try that or see if your knee can handle using a cross trainer. Plus you could do some upper body resistance work too if your knee cannot handle any strength training. Just my suggestions, good luck.0

Thanks Mauthos, I'm not very cultured when it comes to different types of exercises or machines I can use at the gym which wouldn't be too straining on my knee which is why I'm a little stuck... I swim for cardio but I need some strengthening work, my legs are getting like cottage cheese and my hamstring needs to be strong for the reconstruction. I will start doing some upper body again0
