How do you prepare your cod?

I baked mine in the oven last night with a little butter in the baking dish and then some salt, pepper and cayenne on top. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't mind other suggestions.

I like to cut it in small(ish) pieces and lightly coat in flour mixed with seasoning then pan fry in a little bit of butter. This makes good fish tacos or serve with rice or quinoa and veggies. Emeril has a recipe for his "essence" that you can find on-line. I keep a jar on hand at all times. This is usually what I mix with my flour.

I've always wanted to try making fish tacos but for some reason it seems like so much work.

I make a parchment paper packet with cod, sweet mini peppers, onion, garlic, mushrooms, sometimes hot pepper, salt and pepper. Sometimes I use old bay seasoning instead of salt and pepper. Then I bake it.

I bake it brushed with butter with parsley and dill sprinkled on top. Or I dip it flour then egg then panko crumbs and deep fry it. More calories but I make it fit and don't do it very often just when I get a craving

Season some breadcrumbs and mix in a little parmesan, chopped parsley and lemon zest. Dip your fish in fat free natural yoghurt then the crumb mixture and bake in a hot oven. Very very tasty!

I make baked cod similar to this, but dip in coconut milk before rolling in seasoned crumbs. I'll definitely try the yogurt next time!

I also make "poor man's lobster" with cod. Fill a pot with water, add 1/2 cup to a cup of sugar, a couple Tbsp of salt and a couple Tbsp of vinegar. Bring to a boil, add cod and let cook about 20 minutes or until the fish pieces float to the top. Dip in butter. Yum!! (There's a lot of different recipes online for this. I learned this one from my step-dad who was an Alaskan fisherman.)

If I'm being "good" I just do an egg wash and dredge them in a little flower and pan fry in a little avocado oil. If I'm being "bad"...which is usually the case, I beer batter them and deep fry them and and then I make a kick *kitten* chipotle slaw and some homemade salsa fresca and rock some tacos.

I love this tomato caper sauce for any white fish. Just pan fry or broil and top it with the sauce.

Cod wasn't even in my plans for dinner last night, but once I got to the store it was looking good and on sale so I picked some up but once I got home I realized I didn't know how to prepare it so that's why I made it so boring. I figured someone here could help me out. I might have it again tonight or soon with some of these suggestions.

Ohh god yes, if I'm being 'bold', I'll make a guinness battered cod with proper chunky deep fried chips, roasted garlic mayo dip, homemade floury baps mmmmyummy!!

I marinate it for about 15 minutes in 1/4 cup orange juice, the juice from 1 lime and some lime zest, a little chili powder and cumin, salt and pepper. Then I bake it at 375 for 10-15 minutes (until flaky) and make it in to fish TACOS. I love tacos. I generally use the same spices and citrus to make a citrus slaw that goes on top the fish. Sometimes I add some diced mango.

Oh, sometimes I just season (cajun or just adobo) and pan fry on both sides then make fish tacos with spicy pickle tartar sauce, plenty of slaw, jalapeno, cilantro and lime on warmed corn tortillas. I forget about them in the winter, but I think I need some fish tacos this weekend.

We typically cook it in tomato sauce, perhaps with olives and/or capers

I tried this recipe and it was great.

2 lbs cod, cut into serving size pieces
    2 cups panko breadcrumbs
    1 egg
    1 egg white
    1⁄2 teaspoon garlic salt
    1⁄2 teaspoon onion powder
    1⁄8 teaspoon black pepper
    cooking spray

    Directions

    Heat over to 450 degrees.
Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Beat egg and egg white into bowl.
Place panko in bowl with seasonings.
Dip fish into egg, then into panko, pressing panko into fish.
Place fish on cookie sheet, after all fish is coated, spray fish with cooking spray.
Bake for approximately 15 minutes until coating is nicely browned and fish flakes easily.

Most fish like tilapia and cod I'll make in to fish tacos. I got the recipe from a friend but this is what I do.

    Fish - Cod or Tilapia
Pico de gallo - I usually buy the premade container at Wal*Mart or 2 containers at Kroger
    1 tbsp of Hellmans mayonnaise
    1 lime, only the juice.

I'll put Webers Boston Bay and Zesty Lemon seasoning on the fish, bake or grill it. Then shred the fish up and and serve on a corn tortilla with some of the pico de gallo mixture.

I was never a fan of fish tacos until I tried these ones. Pretty awesome.

I like making a Cod Chowder, in fact that's what I am having for dinner tonight it makes a very good helping, it's freezable too so making some in advance is great, it very healthy too and less than 400 cals.
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan then add 2oz diced Carrot, 2oz chopped Onion, 1oz chopped Celery, heat gently to soften stir frequently for a few mins to stop it from sticking to the pan, next add 4oz diced potato cover the pan with a lid on a low/med heat and cook for 10/15 mins, now crumble in 1 vegetable stock cube and add enough boiling water to just cover the vegetables then add 4oz cod fillet cut into small cubes and either 2oz of sweetcorn or 2oz peas which ever you prefer, bring to the boil and simmer for 15mins, next add 4fl oz semi skimmed milk return to a simmer, if you prefer a smoother soup you can blend at this stage then return to the pan and simmer gently for about another 5mins, just before serving add a chopped tomato and some fresh chopped chives. You can use dried chives but add these earlier in the preparation.

Probably referencing their Creole or Cajun coating...I'll use that myself...I generally pan fry cod like the reference above....

Oh I love all white fish and I eat it all the time when I'm trying to have a healthy low cal but delicious meal or very quick and easy meal.

I put heaps of lemon pepper seasoning, spray a tiny bit of olive oil in the pan and eat with salad, veges or healthy multicolour coleslaw (with a homemade thai dressing - lime, chilli, a few drops of fish sauce, soy sauce and a pinch of brown sugar)

Or I cut it up, throw in some mexican seasoning and use the fish to make a mexican fish taco bowl (without the carb taco!), pack it full of corn, 4 leaf salad mix, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, jalopenos, red onion. I'll dress it with coriander leaves, lime and hot salsa. YUM, I want some now
