Bloating at night

I guess I need opinions, please.
For some reason, when I get up in the morning, most mornings, my rings are very tight. I have tried to restrict my salt and I have tried drowning myself with lots of water, trying to flush sodium out of my body. Nothing seems to help. After I have been up for a while, the swellin goes down and my rings are their usual looseness.
The problem is, I know that if I step on a scale, the excess water making my fingers swell will also result in a higher reading. My doctor has okeyed me taking a diauretic the night before I weigh in to get a more accurate weight. My hubby thinks this is cheating and isn't accurate.
This is where your opinions come in.

I don't really see the point in taking a diauretic to weigh in. The point of weighing in is to see the number decrease from your efforts over time. The trend should still show if you consistantly take the diauretic or consistantly don't.....0

It doesn't really matter if it is "cheating," my question is -- what's the point? It's just a number on a scale. What is the point of flushing the water weight for one day just to get a lower number?

I do this as well. I get up and do everything but get dressed in the morning, then I weigh right before I get dressed. By that time I have been up and moving and have gone to the bathroom a couple of times. Works for me0
