Question about my calorie intake.

I started out at 278 pounds, and had my settings at a 2 pound a week weight loss, my calories were given to me as 1540. Today I hit and went beyond my 10 pound mark (losing 12 pounds since my original weight). I decided that 2 pounds a week was a bit much for a while, and changed my settings to lose 1.5 pounds a week instead. The new number they gave me is 1730. My current measurements are:
Age. 23 (24 on Sunday)
Height. 5 feet 6 inches
Weight. 266
Lifestyle. Set to sedentary, but I exercise three times a week with cardio.
Is the new count correct? That seems like a lot more calories for just half a pound difference.

There are 3500 calories in a pound.
You got 190 extra calories per day. 190*7=1330. That is actually only .38 pounds less per week, but yeah, not as many calories as you might think.0 -
I guess it just seems like a lot because I'm so used to my 1540, lol, those calories seem like gold right now.0

For every 0.5 lb a week, it'd be 250 calories per day.
But MFP will also adjust your calories down as you lose weight. So you started with 1540, at 278 lbs. MFP was either going to auto-adjust your calories down soon, or the next time you re-ran your goals (whether you change anything or not, just looking at them and hitting save will re-calculate and change your cals due to weight loss if need be).
So that's probably why it's 190 and not 250. It was likely set to bring you down by 60 (to 1480) shortly.0 -
Well after I hit my 12 pound mark, they did ask to auto down it, but I didn't want to lose 2 pounds per week anymore, because I needed a tiny break. I figured 1.5 pounds would give me just enough of a break while still being strict. I just didn't expect it to jump like that, to me it seems like a big jump, but when you break the numbers down it doesn't seem that bad.0
