I'd just like to know if this is normal?..and if there is anything (besides drinking more water, doing cardio, and eating clean/healthy - all of which I already do) I can do to prevent this from happening? I look (and feel) about 3 months pregnant :P

Yep it is normal. It's just water retention.
Nothing to do about it besides what you're already doing + learning to accept it.0 -
It's just bloat, it happens to the best of us. Can't offer any advice, but know you're not alone. I do take joy in watching it all go away right after even though I know nothing I did made that weight appear or disappear!0

Yep I gained 5 pounds last month. I was pissed.0

It's not fat, so don't worry about it. You'll experience a satisfying drop afterwards, too.0

Absolutely normal.

Me too, I hate it, but it is what it is.
I have found that if I consume less sodium, added sugars and gluten the week before my water retention is less. Mostly because these items cause me to bloat/retain water by themselves my period just exacerbates the issue.0 -
I may not have a way to stop it, but I can tell you that it is normal. I normally gain about three or so pounds and then it goes back down. Bloating is just one of the things that goes with periods.0

Yup yup. Things fluctuate for me weekly anyhow, but definitely upwards during aunt flo's visit lol0

I get upset EVERY TIME, even though I know it's just bloating. Probably because it coincides with the time of the month that I can't help but stuff my face with all the wrong things! Guilt complex0

You can flucuate 3-8lbs a day. It's normal and completely unfair. Drink water and eat less salt, it'll go away.0

Yep! Four pounds for me. On about 4 days before, off about 3 days after. Every...freakin'...time...0

Between five and eight lbs every time. It sucks so I avoid the scale around that TOM.0

I gain around 2 lbs a day or two before and it stays till the bitter end.. lol0

I don't really eat red meat all that much anyway, but I avoid it at all cost during my cycle. I feel like my cramps and bloat are much worse when I eat beef and stuff with a lot of salt. Which is not easy because all I want during my period is a burger or a cheesesteak ( I have driven to philly on a Tuesday just to get one before, period mania is real.) . I feel like the bloat just sits in my lower abdomen determined to make me wear leggings and sweats all week. I sprint past the scale. I don't even bother. LOL0

It's common to have pms symptoms, but it's not truly normal, nor is it comfortable! It can be resolved naturally.
Often, low progesterone is caused (root cause) by high cortisol (stress, improper foods for your system, etc). Whacked out Cortisol meddles with ALL your hormones.

I just got my TOM today, i'll find out in the morning weather i will gain weight but i've heard that it is completely normal and that it's just water retention. It will come back off. All i know is that i'll be excersising a little more than normal this week just to make sure that it comes off. I won't advoid the scale though atleast for me cause i want to know my fluctations durring this time.0
