I don't see why not as long as you don't plan to overdo it.

Best thing would be to consult your doctor and get advice from them. I imagine you can use MFP just like you would, but your numbers would be skewed a bit.

MFP can be used for purposeful weight gain as well as loss, so I don't see why not. Just ask your doctor how much weight you should be gaining and over what time frame and then plug that info into your goals. You can adjust as needed. (Because, as you know, you gain less in the beginning and it increases over time as the little one grows.) It sounds like a great way to monitor your progress. Congratulations by the way!

To track? I think it would be wonderful. You would just be using to track that you are eating enough and getting the right nutrition. Up you calories goals to what expectant moms needs.

Of course you can...you set your goal to maintenance and eat those calories up until 12 weeks. If you have been on low calories (1200) then I would up them slowly over a week so you don't see a sudden and discouraging big gain. Once you hit 12 weeks manually alter your goal to add 200-300 more calories, this increases further in the last 12 weeks but only to an extra 300-400 and only if you are within a "normal" weight range. It also increases more if you are carrying more than one baby.

    Congratulations!

    Yes! Most definitely.

Like everyone else has said, talk to your doctor/midwife to determine your nutritional needs and weight gain goals. Then adjust your MFP numbers accordingly. I've been adjusting mine along the way. When you're in your first trimester, most people don't really need extra calories yet, not until your second and third trimesters. You might like to search around the internet for more information until you get in to see your doc/midwife. There are some calculators like this available too: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/pregnancy_calorie_calculator.htm

You might like to also check out the monthly pregnancy thread (search for "Pregnancy May" to find the current one) and another thread group is called "Fit, Fabulous, and Pregnant" if you'd like to talk with other pregnant ladies using MFP.

    And Congratulations! :flowerforyou:

I'm almost 16 weeks pregnant and I've been using MFP the whole time, eating right and staying active!
