Cn someone have a peek at my Sodium levels set on my diary...is it right? I could never in my life eat that much!!

MFP defaults to a 2500 limit for sodium. Most health organizations recommend that people not go over 1500. So don't worry if you're under MFP's 'goal' for sodium.0

You're not going over your sodium goal right? Do you have high blood pressure or heart disease?0

Your sodium intake is very low, good job! 2500mg is only 2.5 grams, so its not difficoult to get it into your diet - especially that everything ready made you buy in a shop contains salt, from deli meats, bread, yoghurts to ready meals. As long as you are under 2500 mg a day, u ok. :bigsmile:0

Yes, your sodium limit is correct. If you cant go over that then great. Some say no more then 1,500 but that is just to hard for me cause I love love love hot sauce and its basicly vinegar and salt.0

also, some of your entries are wrong. Yesterday you have a pickle in your diary with no sodium. Pickles are a very high sodium food. Probably just the person who typed it in didn't track sodium so they didn't bother.
Also, your milk. check your carton. I've never seen milk with no sodium. Yours says 0. Mine is 52mg for every 100 of milk, so like 200-300 for a glass full depending on size...0 -
I would watch out for all zeros in your food selections. If it has all zero's it probable means the person who entered the food did not enter all info. When I see that I look for something else as a substitute.0

I just looked at your last day but there are several missing values. Skim milk has sodium. Salad dressing almost always has sodium. Tinned corn has sodium. Just because whoever entered the values on MFP didn't include it, doesn't mean it's not there. Be very careful when taking other people's entries at face value.0

Are you eating packaged processed foods or meals? They are loaded with sodium. I looked on a can of artichokes the other day and the per serving for sodium was 800g. That's a lot. For the same serving size of home cooked artichokes the sodium was less than half. It can zoom upwards quickly with the processed foods, and unfortunately, although more convenient, they are not any more nutritious.0

You might also want to keep in mind that while a food product may not have a full nutrition label containing sodium information, there's a good chance it still has sodium in it. Also, you may come across incomplete MFP information.

Hi all. Thanks for all your replies.
I have been looking at other people's diaries and as most people on here are American, I don't recognise all the names, but it is really interesting to notice the cultural differences.
I am surprised how much convenience food you guys have, especially diet sweet treats and quite high calorie things like cheesy steaks and processed meat products etc. It must be really hard to diet being bombarded with so many choices.
I notice in the UK we 'spend' much more of our calories on booze!! Maybe we can learn from each other!!0 -
