Those are calories that you still have available to eat. If your using MFP's exercise calorie burns, its usually recommended to eat 50-75% of them back (leaves room for errors in logging).

It means you get to eat more.
  • I am on a 1200 calorie a day. I exercise a lot and very active in my work eg only sit down when I drive. If I add my exercise it's adds up to 600 calories a day should I eat them? I've only done this one week & not lost any weight.

You can opt not to eat your exercise calories ... or if you do choose to eat them, aim to eat only about half.

So if you burn 600 calories through exercise, eat up to about 300 of them.

I am on 1200 calories too and I am highly active. On my training days, I aim to just eat 1200 calories even though I burn 500. Its just my own preference and that I dont get hungry on training days.

I suggest eating 1200 on training days. If you get hungry, increase it by 100-200 calories, no more than 40% I say. The more the deficit, the more the weight loss.

The problem with calories burned just like food consumed is whether the measurements are accurate. To avoid MFP inflation, then start by eating up to 50% as you dont want to be eating calories you havent burned. If you are not hungry and eating a reasonably balanced diet with sufficient calories then its up to you. I eat if im hungry and dont if im not.
