Looking for some friends

Hello. My name is Kris and I'm 28 y/o. I've been using MFP for a couple weeks but have been counting calories since Feb 20th (I know this date because it is when I got my latest tattoo). I started at 203lbs after we bought a scale and I was quite saddened by this number. Up until about 6 or 7 years ago, I never even broke 130lbs. I decided it was finally time to do something about it and just simply started watching how many calories I ate. The weight started dropping quick. And I went from 203 to where I'm at now, which is 186. I don't exercise at all, but that is going to change starting in April.

My wife is in the Navy and I am 4 years out of the Marines and we just recently moved to Silverdale, WA. I'm a stay-at-home dad right now, until we can find some options for our son for after-school care. I'm looking for some friends, preferably in the area, that have the same goals in mind to help me along with my weight loss. My wife has been doing this for about as long as I have but she doesn't need to lose any weight (she fluctuates between 120-125).

My plans for the future, after I have lost the weight to at least get down to standards for my height, is to start weight training. I did this sometime last year but never dieted right or did much cardio so there were no real physical changes. I stopped when my wife came home from training and planned to start again when we were settled on our new station. The time has come but before I start doing any lifting, I want to get down in weight so starting in April, I will be doing cardio to help with the loss (also to help motivate my wife for her fitness test in May).

I look forward to meeting new people. Thank you for reading and I apologize if it is tough to read. When I write, I tend to ramble on about nothing. :)

Hey, you can totally add me. I just started a gym a week ago and am trying to get use to it. My husband has never had a problem with his weight and he looooves going to the gym but since I have had our kids I gained waaay to much weight so I am just trying to get comfy in my skin again!! Congrats on the weight loss already!!

Yeah, I never had a problem with my weight until I got hurt while in the military. I tore the crap out of everything in my right knee so running on a treadmill is out of the equation for me. After I got hurt, I started to put the weight on, going from 123lbs when I was in boot camp to about 175lbs 4 years later. Then within the past 4 years, I put on even more weight by doing absolutely nothing but working and sitting around eating.

I checked out you profile and saw that you were from NC. We made the journey across the U.S. starting in Greenville, SC and before that I was stationed at Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC.
