Fitting into clothes

How did it make you feel when you thought you were a certain size, squeezing into jeans or a shirt. Then started exercising, getting tone and loosing weight to find your self not squeezing into clothes but comfortably fitting them.
For me it made me feel a little silly and embarrased. What did I look like trying to squeeze into those shorts. I thought I was a size 18 but in actuallity I was more like a 20! Now that I know I'm definetly an 18 my goal is to come down to a 16 comfortably.
What are you thoughts?

Totally agree with you. My go to outfit for years has been a tank top with buttoned blouse over it, usually unbuttoned (because I couldn't button it up!). I tried on a shirt Saturday and realized I don't need the tank top because it buttons! It's a start and it feels good.0

I hope this is not a silly question, but I have a lot of weight to lose and am wondering how often I should by new clothes. Should I expect to need new things after every 20lbs lost or is there another number I should use?0

I am buying all my jeans at Goodwill. The plan is to donate them back as they become too big! Sort of like renting clothes.0

OMG! My girlfriend just lost about 35 lbs. and that's what she did -- went to Goodwill. It's definitely cheaper and why spend a lot of money on clothes that you WON'T be wearing for long? :bigsmile:0

I've gone from a 22/24 down to a 14 in the last 12 months (55 lbs total so far). I keep buying clothes as I need to as I work in a professional office and have to look nice. It's gotten a bit expensive, however, I love the feeling so I keep on buying. I've looked at consignment and second hand and haven't found much.
I love Dress Barn as they have sizes from 4 to 30 and cute clothese, good sales, and not overpriced.
Good luck! It's a great feeling!0 -

I am a Goodwill junkie! As soon as I drop off a donation bag, I'm in the store shopping! No better way to "go green", I think, than reusing. And when you buy the best named clothing, the deal is unbeatable. My kids love it, too. It's not even a money issue. I just love the whole concept!0 -
I remember shaking and shimmieing into my jeans...i'm sure my husband had a hard time stifling his laughter lol.!
Now i can pull em up without unbuttoning them0 -
With 43 lbs gone, I look at shirts that I was wearing before I lost weight, and I think, "I must have looked like a stuffed sausage in that!" So the question sometimes is not CAN I wear that, but SHOULD I wear that!!! Thankfully, now I'm asking that same question because my clothes are too big!
And Thrift Stores are awesome, especially for jeans! After all, when there is a rack with hundreds hanging on it, surely I can find the perfect pair. I love the idea of "renting" clothes, too. "Treasure hunting" is fun! I've convinced my kids now too.0 -
yeah i'm exactly the same way. i refused to buy fat clothes, i just kept trying to squeeze into clothes that were way too tight. i'm just happy that i can fasten them now without all the effort lol0

I know this may be a very hard question to answer with any accuracy. I am 5' 3", female. In general how many pounds must one loss to go down one size. For example: say I am in size 22, how may pounds would I need to loss to go to size 20?0

I'm not even on a weight-loss journey, and I still shop there! Well, we have Salvation Army in my town, and I have found wonderful buys there on name brands, especially coats and tops. I agree about the reusing, also, which is the main reason I shop there.0 -
Congratulations on your 55 lbs.
I love Dress Barn too. Although I hope that I won't have to need to for too much longer, they are really the only place where I can find plus size clothes that look nice. Sometimes when I am in other stores I am led to believe that plus size women only wear clothes that they don't do anything except sit around the house. Dress Barn gets a thumbs up from me!:flowerforyou:0 -
we have stores in Ontario Canada called "value village" lotsof brand name, designer gently used clothing.. my niece calls it "valuable village" .lol0
