They are both great but I think you will get better results with CLX or even Turbo Fire. Turbo Jam is much lower impact, but still a great and fun workout.

I love turbo jam... haven't tried chalean extreme. But I have to say that the host is part of the reason that I love turbo jam so I would imagine that I would like almost anything she does!

Depends on what you're looking for. ChaLEAN Extreme is mainly strength training and toning whereas Turbo Jam & Turbofire are mainly cardio routines. I'm currently doing ChaLEAN extreme and i absolutely LOVE IT!!! I just bought TF so I'll be doing that next & then a hybrid of the two. I recommend anything by Chalene.

BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But if you can only do one, I would look at what your specific goals are first. They are two pretty different programs by one awesome trainer! :) Turbo Jam is upbeat and lots of fun and a great calorie burner. ChaLean Extreme is more focused on building lean muscle. It's 3 days a week weights/band resistance and 2 days cardio/intervals. I am currently doing a hybrid of the two. I do the lifting 3 days and do Turbo Jam on the other days rather than the cardio with Extreme. I have done the entire extreme workout the 90 days through and was just ready to mix it up a bit. Would love to hear what you decide on!!!!!!

Ok, well you've gotten some great responses to your question. And I agree with them all. Depends on your needs. Let us know what you decide.

I have both and like them both, guess thats not much help huh...

Well I guess it depends on you. Turbo is all cardio with only one weighs video (and its still high tempo)

Then Chalean is 80% weights. You have burn the first month, Push and then Lean. (if I remember right 35-45 min each) There are 3 weights video for the set and then there are also a abs video, two short (30 or so min) you do once a week and her recharge video you so once a week (kinda like yoga)
so it would be a weight day three days a week and then you would do two of the other ones and 2 rest days.

    Hope that helps

The Turbo Fire and Turbo jam look soo "dancy" to me...I don't think I will be able to keep up.

I think I may go with ChaLean....
  • Hey everyone! I'm brand new to this site, but found this thread and had to jump in!

First off, Chalene is AMAZING!! Her energy is absolutely infectious!

Secondly, Turbo Jam (TJ to me) may seem a bit more "dancy", but it's really mostly the same moves put together in different routines for the different videos, paired with the high energy "dancy" music. It does have a 20Minute workout video, that also has on that disc a "learn and burn" section. Basically she breaks down the moves for you so you can learn them. It's not 'dancy' as much as it is a combination of boxing, kickboxing, and different forms of martial arts with few actual "dance" moves thrown in. That's true for the workouts I have anyway. I haven't tried all the TJ ones, but I've found the "Cardio Party" one I have to be more dancy than the others I have. Do others find this to be the case as well?

I purchased ChaLEAN Extreme (CE) quite awhile ago and never actually started using it. But now that I'm back to focus on myself, I think I might!! From what I remember about it, it was solely weight work. But remember: lean muscle is what burns fat!! So don't let the fact that it's "weight lifting" scare you away!

Thirdly, Turbo Fire looks INTENSE! OMG!! I think I'd die within the first 10mins! And yet... Chalene still makes it look fun. :D I may have to ask for that for my birthday.

Oh also! For those that don't know.... on the previews for TJ or the TurboFirewhere it shows Chalene "shaking her booty" or doing a pelvic pumping action, it's actually standing ab work! It looks "dancy" (and it's fun to do too!) but it does serve a purpose!! :)

I seriously don't think you could buy a BAD Chalene Johnson workout, no matter which you decide to try. I'm not at all a coordinated person (Zumba loses me after the 3rd beat), but I can do the TJ workouts just fine. They just take a few times using them to get used to the movements.

Thanks EVERYONE for the posts...Especially THIS post...
  • You're welcome. :) Glad it helped! You can also look on Ebay for a used TJ Dvd, if you want to try it without spending too much $. There was quite a selection on there when I was looking last year.
