If you've weighed in and you've gained do you log that? Or do you just wait until you've lost and then start logging again?

Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. It deducts it from your total loss and it makes me sad.

It depends...a lot of times I'll weigh myself the very next day and its gone again. Once it stayed up for over a week so I adjusted my weight lost ticker, but for the most part a pound here or there is mostly water gain and will be gone with more exercise.

You can always enter your weight, whether it is up or down. You just have to go to weigh-in and enter your current weight. It doesn't celebrate as much when you gain, but you can still keep track of it that way.

I log everything. Keeps me honest with myself and where I am in my journey.

Totally de-motivational for me, so I don't change it. I figure if I go up or down 1.5 in a week, it's probably just my body adjusting.

I always log my weight. The good thing about MFP is that if you gain weight, it doesn't announce it to the world on your news feed. It just adjusts your ticker and you get on with it...

Yep, I change it if I have a gain on my "official" weigh in day. In the past I have stuck my head in the sand about too many things, so I need to log everything, including weight gains, to keep myself accountable.

I gained this week and I logged it and my total weight lost went from 11lbs lost to 9  But its my own fault, gotta stop going so far off track on the weekends.

By logging the weight gain, you can see trends. I used to drop weight every 2 weeks.....a small gain or no gain on week one and then a big drop on week 2. By keeping track, I was able to see the pattern.
  • I log up and down...have to hold myself accountable....or else what else am I not logging because it's not necessarily positive. I know that if you loose a pound, you are sure as heck going to log it and not attribute it to water loss..right? Same should be true for opposite!

Yea, I log everything too. I don't want to hide it and act like I know exactly what I am doing and I am never tempted by food and or laziness. You gain some you lose some each week, either way, I think it is a good thing to be open with your MFP friends. Plus, I know my MFP friends are always very encouaraging to get me back on track after a bad eating day! I love it :)

I log a gain if it's really significant (like more than 4 pounds). But if it's a small gain (less than 4 pounds) I don't count it. I just make a mental reminder that I did gain and need to work to loose that. Sometimes it's just water weight and I don't want to get depressed.

I won't put add it on the day of. I know it is bad, but I wait until the next day and take the better out of the 2. Honestly, it usually ends up being my original weigh in and then I just take the hit. Depressing yes, but I need to see it so I make sure it doesn't continue to climb. I also add if there was no gain or loss so I can see it on the reports.

I'm going to weigh again tomorrow. If I'm still up, I'll log it.

I log everything...good or bad, which doesn't always feel good, but it does keep me honest and accountable.

And then when I lose a little more, it feels better. :)
  • I log everything, most every day. You're only kidding yourself if you don't.

I tend to lose in spurts, but I weigh often (most days). So I only log when I lose. I suppose if I had a gain that lasted (i.e. not just temporary water weight) I would probably log it. But then I'll be happy because I don't think that will happen till I'm at or near the weight I should be.

I log it. I feel that it's important to be honest - it helps to keep you accountable for your over eating, lack of exercise - what ever it may be. I logged a gain this week. Not the end of the world.

I log mine too, it's a minor set back but I liked to be able to look back on it see what went wrong and try not to repeat it.

I know your not supposed to weigh in everyday, but I do and I log it...up or down.

I used to not log the gains then it was sad to have to wait so long to see a loss. Plus it just helps track your entire journey and either way keeps me wanting to move forward.

If I lose I want to keep up the good work, and if I gain, makes me throw in an extra workout, and eat even better! =)

I would suggest logging it if it is an official weigh in. I don't like doing the weigh in everyday anyways, I might actually weigh myself in the morning, the moment I wake up to be consistent, but I only do a weigh in every other day. I feel like the point of this site and whatever our goals are is to be completely honest with ourselves.

There are probably several reasons we all gain weight that can be discouraging... one thing is that we are women, so water weight can come on at different times of the month, so don't beat yourself up over that and maybe wait to weigh in until after that. Another is that if you are working out and gaining muscle, that can honestly put on some weight too. So keep that in perspective.

Bottom line though is that if you gained it for the bad reasons, you already know what you might have done wrong and therefore, it is best to be honest and put that out there so you can work harder to get back on track, if you manipulate the weigh in so you see the results you want, then you aren't really benefitting yourself in the long run, just making yourself feel better without real results. I would think it would motivate you to work harder, not make you feel like a failure... so get out there and do your thing girl- we're all here for you and in this together!

I will hop on the scale a few times a week, but really officially weigh on Sunday or Monday a.m.'s. I cut myself no slack in that regard, since Weight Watchers weighed us once a week and danged if they didn't log those gains. Weight watchers didn't do it for me, tho...I was shamed into no longer going, because a real person in front of me logged those gains and I just didn't feel comfortable with that.

It's really frustrating because I've been exercising and staying under my calorie goals everyday but the scale has said for over a week that I've gained at least a pound and a half.

I wait until I've lost again and then post that. And I always post that I weigh 1/2 pound more than the scales says to give me a cushion. Petty, I know!! :ohwell:

I weigh all the time so my gains are just the common ups and downs that you get as you go through the week. It always goes back down in a day or two. If I had a real gain I'd probably log it but it kind of depends on why. Like if I'd been away for awhile and gained I would log it and start new.
