According to most calculators, my maintenance allowance is currently just over 2000. Therefore, my daily allowance needs to be between 1200 and 1500 for weight loss.
I'm not too good with the maths, so my question is say for example I go for a birthday meal one day in the week, which means I go over my calorie allowance for the day by around 1500.
If I then go below my allowance for the next few days to make up for it, and so my weekly average is around 1400, will I still lose weight just the same as if I averaged 1400 a day? Or is best to avoid meals out and stick to my daily allowance, rather than focusing on weekly average? Thanks!

Sticking to a weekly average is fine, it's how the 5:2 diet works (eating maintenance for 5 days and 500 calories for 2 days).0

I look at my weekly goal not daily.0

I found that looking at my daily allowance lead me to failure especially when days I go out with friends and go over it just got me disappointed with myself and end up failing next day too. Weekly allowance makes it easier for you there are days when you are more hungry than other days or have an event this way you compensate in the other days without feeling guilty about that one higher day or meal0

I aim for about 1200 on weekdays then eat within the rest of my weekly allowance on the weekends, much easier for me!0

This is incorrect. Technically if your maintenance is actually 2000 you could eat 1950 and lose weight it would just be very slow. 1200 is a pretty big deficit if your maintenance is over 2000natboosh69 wrote: »According to most calculators, my maintenance allowance is currently just over 2000. Ah yes true. BUT I like to aim for the lower option to allow for any inaccurate logging and so on.0

it's really not that big, a lot of people are on a 1000 calorie deficit to lose 2 pounds/week. She would be eating too little if she cut 1000 so 1200 is the lowest and 1500 is for about 1 pound/week0
