roasted vegetables - calories?

Hello,
the office canteen has a new dish in the healthy corner: roasted vegetables: mainly onion, bell pepper and some courgette and aubergine. They seem to be putting some oil or something else slightly brownish over them, but it doesn't taste overly fatty. Any idea how much calories I should be calculating for 100 grams? I could not get an answer from the caterer, even though they do try to post some calorie information for some dishes.

It's a bit of a crapshoot guess if you don't know how it's cooked.....I'd probably try to guess roughly how much of each veggie in a serving and get that count (or just guesstimate 50-100 cal for veggies) and then I'd add a guess at oil and sugar.....the veggie calorie count won't add up to much usually, but whatever oil or sauce is used cooking and serving them can possibly make big difference0

Perhaps it is an idea to ask how they make the dish (what ingrediënts they use and approximately how much of it) and estimate it yourself?0

I would overestimate a bit. Tally the veggies separately and then 0.5 to 1.0 tblspn oil, depending on how oily they are. If it had excessive oil, I would blot it with paper towel. Sounds healthy, though so I think u should be fine.0

I think there's indeed not much calories on them. All the veggies are very low in calories and should not sum up to much more than 40kcal I think. There seems to be some oil in there though I'm not sure. If so it's not much. If it aint oil, what is it then? Sugar? No idea. Onion and red bell pepper are sweet if roasted I think, and the other veggies don't taste sweeter than normal.0

Alot of vegetables are roasted with olive oil. I would consider adding some oil to the calorie count.0

They could roast them in olive oil and vinegar. They could roast them in crisco. They could soak them in beef fat and then roast them in lard. There's no way you could be accurate without knowing the cooking oil used.0

Imo, I would log the weight of the veggies then log a tbspn of fat.0

As long as the amounts used are the same - all 3 of those things would have roughly the same calorie count. A tbspn of fat is roughly 100cals.

I put this item in my own recipe box here on MFP. Mine is a mix of Zucchini, yellow squash, red bell peppers, garlic sea salt and 2 tbsp of olive oil. Here is what it came out to:

Eating food prepared by others is always a crapshoot. Just eat in moderation. That is why I limit my eating out so much. There is so many hidden calories and sodium. BTW - love roasted veggies.0

Sure, I eat in moderation. I do love the roasted vegetables. One of the few things (apart from vegetarian curries) is the only thing they are able to do. Though really, I cannot even guess what the calorie amount is. All the dishes that have calorie information range from 90-400kcal/100gr. Well, that's a wide range. Still waiting for an answer from them.0
