I realize that this site would be the best site to officialy stay and stick to it.
Im graduating in june and prom is soon. I want to look good and fit. I have a low self esteem and not so many friends. I realized that this year my best friend is avoinding me and I just don't understand. So I want to do a new me. Have a great body and be confident so that next year I won't be annoyed about people think about me.
Another topic is... I have generalized anxiety disorder which means I stress a lot and food is a way to confort me. But I do eat some alot espacially at night. And im taken Effexor since september , i stop for 2 weeks so i guess i should start back again cause I don't wanna feel like crap.
I heard that effexor either makes you loose weight or gain a lot of weight. Im kind of scared to be honest. Does anybody here can talk to me about it?
Thanks
Wish you all of success

Effexor has a lot of side effects for some people. For me, when I took it, I had problems with urination. It can also CAUSE anxiety, so be careful. There's another antidepressant call Wellbutrin either SR (slow release) or XR (extended release). Doctors call it like a "morning cup of coffee". It perks you up. I lost some weight with that, but I'm not sure it was the effect of the pill as much as it helped with my depression and I became more active. But I had to take all of it first thing in the morning or I ended up not sleeping at night. MOST DEFINITELY TALK TO A DOCTOR. But there are a lot of choices out there. For weight gain, be careful with things like paxil, zoloft, and prozac. They tend to make people sluggish and thus the weight gain begins.
You sound like you have a whole new horizon opening up, what with graduation and prom. Make a point to enjoy these times. Eating healthy, getting good sleep, and exercise can never be overrated, no matter what your age. Your skin will thank you, your brain will thank you, and most importantly your body will thank you. And starting on a healthy attitude, which you seem to be aiming for, at a young age will last a lifetime.
:flowerforyou: Those are my two cents for the evening. Keep positive. You can't go wrong.0 -

i also have generalized anxiety disorder. i have been on ssris in the past and lost weight the first time around. the next time i gained. all in all, i really don't think it was the medication that caused this but more my manage of the anxiety. when i had lost the weight the first time around, it was because my anxiety was more controlled and i didn't overeat.0

wellbutrin is not good for people with anxiety. i learned that the difficult way. wellbutrin is an anti-depressant not meant for people with anxiety issues.0 -

I thing meds differ greatly for each individual. I too am on Wellbutrin and deal with both depression and anxiety....not so much anymore because of being on meds...but occasionally it does happen when things in life get really out of whack.
Meds are strange that way... we all are made up so chemically different, what works for one maynot work for another. What makes one gain may make the next person lose.
If you find what works for you after talking to your doc...I say stick with it and don't go on and off without them knowing it....can be pretty dangerous going that route! I've found I had to drop many of my meds and cut the others way way back after losing the weight I have....so there's always hope that may work for others as well.
:flowerforyou: :drinker:
as an after thought....I do take generic Wellbutrin and not the slow/extended release so my effects may vary greatly than anothers. I can't say I would ever say it's like a 'cuppa coffee' in the a.m. regarding how it effects me, but it doesn't slow me down or anything...actually none of meds have ever effected me that way. But then again I never got it for a perk up feature my Lexapro does that:laugh: without me even trying...
But nowadays...eating healthy, working out and getting my water in...now THAT'S what keeps my body on the move!!:drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou:0
