Are we talking about cleaning as in Cleaning and Jerking,

or cleaning as in hoovering the house?

Cleaning (the house) does not burn very many calories. Most of the calorie burn estimates in the MFP database are completely overblown.

I've often thought the same thing, which is why I don't record things like cleaning. It's just too vague. Would rather just consider them bonus calories burned and stick to recording actual exercise.

If it's something you do frequently, then it should be incorporated in your activity level.

e.g waitress or postman - job requires a lot of motion and will increase your TDEE accordingly.

If you actually did something mad like totally cleaned your house top-to-bottom and it took you 8 hours and is out of the ordinary, you'll have defo increased your calorie expenditure for the day and may want to eat a bit more to compensate.

Ignore the database for random activities like this though....

Well I'm clearly in and decorating so will be burning alot more than the normal just hoovering etc. But I think it's definitely overblown on here so may not include it. Thanks guys glad I'm not the only one whom thinks it's over exaggerated

it is, most people don't count it as exercise unless you do some sort of crazy spring cleaning spree

If you feel the effort is out-of-the-ordinary have a bit more to eat. Worse thing is if you're doing something like decorating all day and cutting calories and end up knackered, grumpy and unhappy.

Yeah know what you mean I'm awfully grumpy if I'm hungry. I'll make sure I snack throughout today. Cheers xx
