First of all, I just want to say that I love this website. It keeps me so motivated!

I've been doing so well since I started on MFP at the beginning of the year, but I've seemed to have reached a plateau.
Does anyone have any advice, anything, that may help me get moving again.

Thanks

First thing anyone's going to ask: please open up your food diary so we can see!

exercise more ..... i find people get used to a workout that burns X amount of calories and they continue to do it but as you lose weight a workout that burnt x amount of calories when you weighed Y isnt the same anymore ..... For instance when I started in Jan at 297lbs a 10 mile bike ride would burn about 1,100 calories now at 235 it only burns about 875 :( so I have to step my game up to keep losing.

When I have reached a plateau during my many times of on and off again dieting, I find that just eating more calories will break the plateau. So eat extra calories for one day then get back on track and see if that works for you.

When I start to feel like I'm spinning my wheels, I like to just take a step back. For a couple days I will stop counting my calories and walk away from the treadmill. That doesn't mean I let my diet go to pieces and lay around on the couch. I continue to choose healthy foods, but I lay off the numbers. I also continue to exercise, but I make it a point to go hiking or play soccer with my kids or something else enjoyable. Taking that time to quit quantifying and counting everything and just enjoy what my healthy choices allow my body to DO kind of recenters me. After my little mini break, I remind myself that the things I'm doing DO matter and there is a solution I just have to find it. Sometimes it takes playing with my intake a little bit, up or down depending on what I've been doing. Sometimes it's an exercise rut and I need to switch things up a bit. Sometimes that little bit of reflection leads me to realize that in actuality I'm still moving along, I was just being impatient.

cut out dairy, sugar, and nuts if you consume them. Cut back on carbs, too (not cut out, just scale back)

watch your sodium daily intake, no more than 2,000 mg, drink lots of water, more cardio, eat your exercise calories... All this works for me

You could try changing your exercise regime. I find that I get very comfortable with certain workouts and as they get easier I fail to adapt; however, my body has adapted and metabolism settles in! It's not a favorite for many people because it's hard and takes a lot of motivation to keep at it but you could try some High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) if you're not already doing so. I hope this was helpful.

Welcome to my world! I have been at a plateau for 6 weeks. I have tried everything mentioned on MFP and the internet in general. I just posted this on my MFP blog this morning. To copy and paste from there:

In order to break the plateau I have:

    1. Changed up my exercise

    2. Upped my calories by a couple hundred

    3. Stopped logging food for one week while on vacation (mostly because I had no internet access)

    4. Tried zig zagging calories

Also, I have tried all of the MFP recommendations of:

    1. Measuring, not weighing. My weight hasn't budged nor have inches off of my body.

    2. I log every morsel accurately, so that isn't the problem.

    3. I always drink lots of water so again, that isn't the problem.

I am still stuck between 158 and 161 pounds (I bounce around in there), as I have been since the beginning of April. I know how frustrating it is and believe me, being that I have tried everything else, I will be the first person to post it all over MFP in all caps if I find the secret to breaking the plateau.

Thanks so much for all of your advice. I cycle 60 mins each day, so I'll up that, and I might add in weights too.
