Hello everyone. I've been going back and forth trying to use myfitnesspal, but never seem to stay on track. Very bad at changing my bad habits.
I've been just dx pre-diabetic. Was advised weight loss and cut out the carbs! Unfortunately, carbs are really all I eat since I'm a person that picks all day long and the less preparation the better.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would try searching for alternatives to the carbs you eat that may satisfy you.0

First off, I think it's awesome that you are actively working to improve your health. That's freaking awesome. As to your question, I wouldn't waste my time doing specific diets vs just eating healthy in general. Set the apps features to show your nutrition goals for higher protein and lower carbs. For me, when I'm cutting weight, I find 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fats works fine for me. How many calories you need to intake really all depends on your current weight height and bmi. There are features k. This app and online to help with this. Finally, avoiding carbs altogether is almost impossible so when you do eat carbs, make them good carbs (ie whole grains and other things like that). Chicken is my main protein source when I'm dieting down so feel free to eat plenty of that. I would stay away from deep fried chicken and other fast food versions of chix and stick to cooking your own. I get most of my food from my local grocery store/deli. They are usually more than happy to trim down chix breasts so they have less fat.
Hope this helps!0 -
@amberbily I have been where you are at and so has just about everyone on MFP.
First thing I would suggest is read some success stories and get motivated. Also get some active MFP friends. Check the website regularly and interact with your friends. Watching your friends progress may inspire you and give the extra push you need. good luck and feel free to add me if you need some encouragement0 -

I agree with this post. Avoiding carbs altogether is not only near impossible but it's unrealistic and unhealthy. The key for you is to keep blood sugar levels stable by choosing the right carbs and by balancing your meals by increasing your protein and unsaturated fat content. Check out the GI diet by Rick Gallop as that is based around this principal and there may be some useful recipe ideas for you. Hope this is useful.
