Salad Dressings

Looking for some recommendations on low fat/low cal salad dressings? Either bottled or homemade will do. Typically just use oil and vinegar but looking to rotate some other options in.

Bolthouse Farms. Lots of flavors, good taste. I think they have the best blue cheese on the market. In the refrigerated section.0

Litehouse Opa dressings - made with greek yogurt, @ 40 cals/TBSP and they are really delicious. They're in the produce section in my grocery.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions. I guess I need to start looking at the produce and refrigerated sections. I'm always in the oils/dressings section and everything seems high in something whether is calories, fat, sodium, etc.0

2nd the Bolthouse yogurt dressings. They don't have that "diet" taste. I also use plain balsamic vinegar as a dressing.0

I love the Trader Joe's light champagne vinaigrette, but wishbone lite balsamic vinaigrette is pretty good too, and so is Marie's light blue cheese in the jar (though we use that more for dipping than dressing).0

I routinely use both Bolthouse and Lighthouse Opa and enjoy them a great deal. Really like Lighthouse Opa Ranch. Both are in the refrigerated section by the bagged salads.0

I made a green goddess dressing last week that was great!
1 cup greek yogurt
4 Tbsp fresh parsley
1/2 tsp dried dill(or a bit more of fresh)
2 Tbsp fresh chives
1/2 tsp rice vinegar
1 garlic clove
dash worstershire
dash hot sauce
salt & pepper to taste
pop everything in the blender and puree. Delish! You can change it up with different herbs and also it is quite thick so can be thinned with some water or chicken broth(that will further reduce calories).0 -
I make my own low cal ranch dressing and it's pretty delicious. 1.25 cup low fat buttermilk, 3/4 cup light Helmann's mayo, and a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix. 470 calories for the entire 2 cups, or 60 calories per 1/4 cup.0

I have reacquainted myself with the glory of fats in moderation. They sure make salads a lot more palatable and sustaining. Maybe find a great dressing and limit yourself to a teaspoon or two.
Dressings are super easy to make. My favourites these days are vinaigrettes. You could increase the herbs/garlic and control your salt that way.

+1 on this...I'm a huge blue cheese fan, and I grabbed a bottle at the suggestion of someone on this board. It's as good if not better than any of the other brands.0 -
I like Newman's Own Lite Raspberry Walnut.
I make a lot of dressing too. Just try some different seasoning with your oil and vinegar to see what you like. If you want something a bit sweeter add a little honey.0 -

I'm a huge fan of straight up balsamic vinaigrette. Sometimes I mix up some of it with a little olive oil so it sticks to the veggies better. I know I shouldn't but I also love some bottled dressings although I try to stick to making my own0

Im addicted to ZOOSH dressings. but you can only get it over in Australia. Im in the process of trying to convince my sister to mail me some bottles. LOL...giving her the pouty face!
Aside from that, I like Kens Steakhouse Lite Vidalia Onion, and a big fan of the Raspberry Walnut!0 -

Bolthouse, delish. Also, try Ken's Light Options. I've been looking for a tasty Honey Mustard, and their Honey Dijon is great, at only 35cal/TBSP.

This is - hands down - the best italian dressing I have ever tasted in my entire life.
I omit the sugar and the oil - making it nearly calorie free, but even with the oil, its not bad!

The only light ranch that I like is Maries Yogurt Ranch....its in the refrigerated section by the produce.0

Kraft raspberry vinaigrette lite. No artificial sweeteners and a 32g serving is only 50 calories.0

I primarily use oil and vinegar but I do not mix dressing in advance. I keep my olive oil in a spray bottle. I spray olive oil on my salad (I put a small layer in the bowl, spritz and then add another layer and spritz). I have counted out the number of spritzes I use on my salad and then measured it and it equates to just under a tablespoon whereas if you premixed the dressing, you would likely end up with a lot more oil and calories (even though they are good fat calories). Anyway, I digress ...
After I spritz the olive oil, I splash some vinegar on the salad (I have probably 5-8 different flavors that I choose from, depending on mood Next, I will sprinkle some herbs and seasonings on top (check out the Bacon and Chive season from McCormicks Perfect Pinch line) ... to cut down on the acidity of the vinegar, I drizzle a little honey on top of the salad and then I toss in the bowl to mix it up. Sometimes, I will grate some fresh parmesan cheese on top or freshly grated sharp cheddar.
It seems like quite the production but it only takes a few minutes. The best part is you can customize flavors depending on your mood. Sometimes, I will use Rosemary infused olive oil and pair it with Balsamic vinegar and sprinkle some McCormick's Sweet Herb and Onion seasoning. Another tasty offering is olive oil with white wine vinegar and Garlic and Herb seasoning.
Those bottled vinaigrette dressings often have other ingredients like soybean or cottonseed oils that are not good for you. Dressing your own salad means you control everything.0 -
Waldenfarms.com .....zero calorie salad dressings and more...just discovered yesterday. Jewel Osco is carrying them and other health stores. I bought their bacon ranch dressing yesterday, kinda thin, but for zero calories I am not complaining. ok taste, I guess...0

im a ranch girl (hidden valley is my fave, but the aldi's version is pretty close) - i do get the light (not non fat though). I also like the raspberry vinegrettes and poppyseed dressings.0 -
I am lazy, so I just sprinkle my salads with 1 tsp hemp seed oil and then splash lemon juice and Bragg's apple cider vinegar. Sometimes I do 1 tsp sesame oil instead of hemp.0

I found that dressings got old sitting in our fridge, just being a couple of empty nesters. So I got myself one of these:

I'm not sure that calorie count is right. There's over 400 calories just in that mayo. Thought it sounded good so I put it in the recipe builder.
