Low BP

Options
I normally have BP in the 100/60 range as an average for at least 3 years now but yesterday while driving I felt real tired all of a sudden and the feeling such a ball of air leaving your lungs and travelling up your airways came over me. I stopped at the pharmacy and took my BP and it was 104/40 so I sat and waited for about 10 minutes and it was then 108/46...
I know I have push myself harder the last week and drinking all my water. I am eating propeerlly and having about 1500-1700 cals per day (because of working out)so I think it is from drinking my water. The specialist I saw a few years back ask me if I drank lots of water and if it was reverse osmoziz water. It is and unlike bottle or tap water it is low in sodium and potassium so I have to start drinking my gatorade at least once a day again :grumble:

Wow, your diastole is super low! I have a similar problem. Mine has gotten down to 92/60 from running a lot, but lately hovers at 110/70. I tend to get postural hypotension so I can't stand up too fast. I tend not to really watch my sodium because the only processed food I eat is the occasional protein bar and reduced sodium canned soup. When I cut out stuff like that entirely, I almost pass out when I stand up.

I'm not sure I understand what the concern is? A normal BP can go up to 129/85 range, what are you trying to achieve. As well, the time of day, what you ate, and your activity can raise and lower BP.

I think her problem is the low BP...for her diastole to be in the 40's, that's super low. It can cause dizziness and faintness and just general icky feelings. The systole isn't that bad, but still fairly low.

Oh, it sounded like she was trying to get her BP back to the lower no. Then starting back her Gatorade is a great idea to get some salt and pottasium in. Ok, I'm with you guys now!

Haha yea it sounds odd but when your BP is that low you want to go the opposite direction of most people. It's no fun getting out of bed and having everything get dark and fuzzy!

I have the same problem, I am usually 90/55. I never worry about my salt intake, infact my doctor told me to up it. I was told that drinking more water can help bring it up. I always have dizzy spells, I actually think my low bp plays a big part in my panic disorder. What you described sounded like it could have been anxiety due to how you were feeling. Go ahead and enjoy the salt on your veggies!

OK, so a nurse told me this.

I have neurocardiogenic syncope (short translation: I faint.)

I was told that dark chocolate has a chemical in it that helps with fainting spells. I carry tiny little bits with me and when I get the dizzies. . . I eat a bite or two. It may be just a blood sugar boost, but it does work.

Also, I'm another one that was told by the doc. to "eat all the sodium" I wanted. (She knows I don't eat processed food, so this would be within reason.)

I also don't do sugar, and I've found this stuff called "smartwater" that has electrolytes in it.
