Sodium

So I've been juggling from 60.5 to 70kg the last week or two and now I've realised why I'm going up and down.. Sodium. I have worked out my pattern of if I have a high sodium intake one day then 2 days later I'm a kg heavier from water weight.
I've just lowered my goal to 1500mg and hopefully I can stick below that daily.. Too bad I LOVE salty food.

I do too and use garlic salt on a lot of things too. I have been struggling to keep sodium down too. Good luck and it should help if you do0

I have a problem with too much sodium and I can't figure out how to get it out of my diet!! I don't put it on anything. I guess it's from all the processed food I eat and I can't cut those out because I don't cook (hate it!). I just try to drown the sodium with plenty of water and hope that helps0

That's exactly where most of it comes from for most people: processed foods and restaurant food. Luncheon meats are also usually shockingly high in sodium.0 -

Yep my Saturday was shocking and it was because I was snacking at work (I work in a restaurant).0 -
True about restaurant foods/processed foods. Yep, they're tasty. And yep, you'll need to cut down on them because they're just high in sodium.
Enjoy them as a treat. Find substitutes for the protein that you're getting. I'm not putting anyone on a guilt trip - I've been on one so long I have frequent flyer miles - but I am saying, if you see what you're eating isn't getting you to your goal - then it seems obvious you'll need to find ways to reduce and substitute.
It's OK to do this gradually (in the sense of "I am not a doctor & if you have medical reasons to avoid sodium for god's sake listen to your doctor & not me) so that you gradually find other ways to eat what you need to eat.
Don't punish yourself or deprive yourself. You're doing ALL of this for you. So don't let the moral part of your brain beat you with a stick just because you still like salty foods.0
