I have to have pasta every so often. All the pasta dishes at restaurants are way too high in calories so I make this simple meat sauce penne at home.

Feeds 4 people:

1/2 lb lean ground beef or turkey (97/3 ground beef)
1 c. chopped onion (I use vidalia whenever possible)
1 c. chopped baby bella mushrooms
2 tbsp butter (I use shedd spread plus calcium)
2 c. Hunts garlic and herb pasta sauce
garlic powder, salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste

3 servings Ronzoni Smart Taste Penne Rigate (57 grams per serving)
1/4 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
Saute the onion in 1 tbsp butter until nearly soft, add mushrooms and 1 tbsp butter.
Once the mushrooms and onions are soft add ground beef, cook until no longer pink.
Add the store bought sauce and let simmer while pasta cooks

cook pasta until desired tenderness

Spoon some of the sauce mixture into the bottom of a casserole dish
Add cooked pasta
Stir in the remaining sauce mix, sprinkle cheese on top
Bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes

According to my calculations and MFP Recipe tool it is 395 calories per serving (1/4 of the dish)

I serve mine with garlic bread (homemade) and a veggie (salad, broccoli, green beans, or brussel sprouts usually)

Hope this helps you get your pasta fix!
