I want to take a really good Spinning class. Does anyone have strong opinions about either of these places?

Thanks.

No one? No one Spins at an exclusive studio? I'm the only fancy-pants here ?

I am obsessed with spin. i haven't done in it in a while, and am eager to try it again. I always did it at LA Fitness or NYSC, but where I live now, there are only "fancy pants" places. I'll try a class this week and keep you updated!

Heck, yes! Flywheel all the way!!!

I've been going for 3 months and it is awesome! Everyone is so nice and they help you out on your bike. You can go at your own pace until you're ready (and that time comes fast... soon you're going to miss going to class!) The first class is the toughest, but trust me... it gets much easier as you go forward!!

Most studios offer a free class for the first time: http://flywhl.me/bpb9

So you don't have anything to lose but the weight!!!

Enjoy and tell me how it went!
  • I teach at Soul (west coast) and they are two different places- really comes down to energy and vibe I guess, and the style of "cycling" focusing on numbers or a mind, body, soul aspect, without (i guess you can say) pressure on number but really how you feel on a bike! I was drawn to SoulCycle because it is rhythm based, and I have a dance background and overall just love music and dancing AND ITS a high intensity FULL BODY work out. I also over came many obstacles in the past 5 years thanks to that tiny, candle lit room. To be honest, I haven't tried FW but I have done other indoor cycling, they are all different.

I think you should do both until you draw yourself into one in particular. Best advice, is to try out all instructors as well and just find the one right for you. Also, cross training will do your body good!

Hope this was helpful and not biased. I am new to MyFitnessPal!

I prefer Flywheel - I'm a quantitative person & I like seeing my numbers. You can opt to "compete" against the class - or yourself and watch yourself progress the more you go. I'm still relatively new to it - but it's a great way for me to cross train for the long runs I take through central park!

SoulCycle. It definitely improves your health and helps you loose weight. 40 pounds in six months. But is gives you a mental workout too. Makes you feel great when you are done. I don't know about you but I don't want to be competing with anyone else. I don't like that about flywheel. I want to work on me. And I don't want to have to be perfect on day one to get a good workout. With SoulCycle. All you have to do is show up and put in the work. The results come.

this. but soul cycle is a great option too and as long as youre willing to push yourself soulcycle is good!

    BUT SINCE YOURE IN NYC:

revolve, AWESOME class. hour long classes and "real ride" classes

swerve . awesome classes and amazing metrics, tells you cals burned and everything is digital so you know if youre pushing yourself

cyc at david barton - legit like being in a night club
