Hi, I'm new too and I know the feeling of needing help... So it sounds like you've pinpointed what you need to be successful - motivation. I think a lot of people have the same thing *I know I did*

What motivates you to be healthy? For me it has it to be stronger than what motivates me to be unhealthy ( just eat junk food or not exercise). What is it about being unhealthy that you don't like and more importantly what are the positives to being healthy.

It may sound crazy lol but I made a list of positives/negatives about my being overweight vs. healthy - and my motivators (things that give me my motivation to be thinner) before I came to this site - motivators like my fiance, my pets, my family that makes me want to keep going and be the healthiest I can be. A motivator can even be something like "I don't want to feel like this again, I hate having no energy". But I try to throw in some positive ones too, whatever works for you.

This really helped me see clearly what I wanted and why. The other thing - how to get there with mfp (this site is great for tracking food/exercise, accountability to other people, and support). I know it's hard finding time in our busy days to do really anything but if you schedule exercise and meal planning time like you would an important meeting or something (maybe in advance) and treat it as that, you will get it done.

Doing something you like - helped me too with motivation - I love to swim so that's what I do for exercise in physical therapy. If being healthy is a priority to you you'll get it done, if it's not obviously like anyone without motivation - it won't.

Also do-able goals. If you try and change everything really fast you are setting yourself up for failure. The slower you lose the longer you keep it off (well slower within reason) because it means it's a real healthy lifestyle change as opposed to a 'diet'. This is what I've heard from my nutritionists at least....
= It's small, able to be reached goals that keep motivating us to keep going and having more goals - because we can actually get to them and do them. They keep us positive and feeling better about our weight loss journey and healthy lifestyle changes.

This is just what I've learned from my docs that has helped me in my own experience I hope you can get something from it as well.

Sorry for writing a novel about motivation lol - Good luck, it's not easy, one day at a time but you took the first step, you deserve major kudos - feel free to add me if you'd like to.
