I just downloaded the c25k app on my ipad. Seems pretty straight forward, but I have a few dumb questions.

The app tells you to start walking, then it tells you when to start running. duh! Well, how do I know what speed to start at. There's no way on earth I will be running 5k in the 30 minutes the program lasts, even in 8 weeks.
I know, dumb, but, I'm excited about building stamina and endurance. I think this will help. I just want a little guidance.

thank you!
Corinne

Not dumb at all. Most people will start out way too fast and that leads to injury and giving up on the program.
Start slow. Then slow down some more. You should be able to speak short sentences while running without panting, spitting out the words, etc. You may huff/puff a bit but you should be able to speak relatively comfortably.
It is possible to run slower than you can walk. That's okay. Many of us start that way and speed comes with time.
There's no set start speed. The correct speed is the speed that allows you to complete the training session. You'll need to experiment until you find your pace.
For encouragement, advice and camaraderie, I recommend the C25KGroup. It's active and it's fun to talk with others who are also going through the program with you:

Welcome to running. It can be done. Don't worry about the speed. I completed the program 2 years ago and still can't run 5K in 30 minutes.....but I run 5K 3x a week and feel great.
    You can do this.

I loved that app! I seriously went from dying on day 1. Now I'm finished and can run all 3.2mi without stopping. I'm not super fast, and I'll warn you now that towards the end it will suggest that you run a 10min mile. That just wasn't going to happen with my short tree trump legs. So don't focus so much on the speed but on just pushing yourself with the time. I average a 43mins now which is a whole lot faster then not running it at all!!
