Sick

I had some type of bug yesterday. Couldn't eat or drink at all and lost 3.5 pounds so I'm most likely dehydrated today:( I've eaten a little, but still scared I'm going to get sick. Any suggestions on what might help me gain some energy today? I'm supposed to go to Zumba at 7 tonight and I can barely stand for 5 minutes right now. I feel so much better than yesterday, just so weak!

You need to eat and drink lots of water since you've mentioned you are dehydrated. Postpone your zumba class. Your health comes first always.

Forget Zumba, you need to rest. Bland foods would be best. Dry toast, white rice.

Be sensible and realistic. Zumba is off. You have been ill and your target is to get well. If your child could barely stand would you be sending them to exercise? Do not make a difficult situation worse.

Why are you going to Zumba if you can't stand for 5 minutes and you feel weak?

There's a line between pushing through being tired/weak to get to a goal and pushing too hard and doing more harm than good.

On the occasions that I am sick, I evaluate my level of exhaustion and see what I'm up for. Most days, I'll go for a walk if I can.

In your case? REST. Stay home, drink plenty of fluids and eat if you can. If you feel the need to move around, maybe do a lap around the living room or something.

I'd bet money that if you go to Zumba anyway you'll just collapse/pass out during the class. Don't do it!

Are there any fluids other than Gatorade and water that will help rehydrate? I can't seem to get a large amount of either down. I've had more milk today than water, but I don't want stomach cramps from too much milk.

Pedialyte. When I have a bad throat, I like the cold pops. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. I couldn't even imagine drinking milk when I'm sick.

I think I wanted the milk this morning because I knew it was cold. I've tried ice water and it just isn't going down well, but will keep trying. We had unflavored pedialyte from when the baby had RSV and I'm pretty sure we threw it away a few weeks ago. Next time I get up I will check - I think the baby is about to fall asleep on me right now. And I'm still weak so I will just suck it up and lay here with her:)

A little broth helps me when I feel ill. Hope you feel better soon!
