My motivation seems to be evaporating. I don't wanna exercise, I feel hungry no matter what I eat, oh and yeah, I've not lost anything this week. Not even a tenth of a pound! And I did so well last week too. It's coming up to that TOM so that might explain the weight stalling and craving for sweets but I don't know why I feel so tired and fed up. What can I do?? :(

To quote Dorie from 'Finding Nemo' - Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!
Right before my TOM I eat anything not nailed down and I am exhausted.... but I make myself go to the gym regardless! I usually gain weight during that time (water retention) and I'm crampy, but going to the gym is much better than laying on the couch, eating and feeling sorry for myself! I'm going through that right now - I'd rather NOT go to the gym, but I'm going anyway.... even half an hour of something is better than giving up totally!

And don't beat yourself up over it. Acknowledge that it is mostly due to hormones and that in a week, you'll be back to 'normal' and the scale will move in the right direction again!

    Hang in there!

I agree w/noctuary....we've all been there. You know your body better than anyone and you said your it's TOM. Be kind to yourself and recognize that not every day or week will be a success. I feel a bit like you do today - only my prob was a weighed yesterday and again today and was up. I KNOW it's water, but I'm allowing a number to define me. I can't do that. YOU keep up the good work! We are all here to support and encourage each other. Stay strong!

I am right here with you!
My TOM is next week and after having lots of treats last week i don't want to eat properly this week.

But we can stick at this. it's just 6 more days and then once they are done you can attack the next week all fresh and fighting :)

This is just a part of it! please read the link above

Generally someone with a BMI over 32 can do a 1000 calorie a day (2 lbs a week) deficit
With a BMI of 30 to 32 a deficit of 750 calories is generally correct (about 1.5 lbs a week)
With a BMI of 28 to 30 a deficit of 500 calories is about right (about 1 lb a week)
With a BMI of 26 to 28 a deficit of about 300 calories is perfect (about 1/2 lb a week)
and below 26... well this is where we get fuzzy. See now you're no longer talking about being overweight, so while it's still ok to have a small deficit, you really should shift your focus more towards muscle tone, and reducing fat. This means is EXTRA important to eat your exercise calories as your body needs to KNOW it's ok to burn fat stores, and the only way it will know is if you keep giving it the calories it needs to not enter the famine response (starvation mode)

For me, TOM could mean gaining 2 - 3 pounds. If you are just maintaining for that week, consider it a victory. By diggging in, you miht notice a more significant drop after TOM has passed. Plan a small treat for yourself if you feel that will help and stop being so hard on yourself. You would have never started dieting if the scales weren't inching upwards. Holding ground is sometimes a victory in itself.

I've trained myself to evaluate reaching the end of my TOM at the same weight I was before it came as a huge success. Since you can't do away with the problem try to see it in a different light! Do try to workout though, no matter how bad you feel. I promise it'll make you feel better!

Thanks all, I know you're right but I can't help letting it get to me, blargh! I'm about to go workout now though, will just have to add some extra cursing at Jillian Michaels today.

I do think I'm eating enough. I've got MFP set to 2 lbs a week and I eat between 1500 and 1800 per day, depending on how much I exercise and how many exercise cals I eat back (usually all!). I don't normally feel this rubbish so I think I'll chalk it down to hormones.
