What do you eat in an average day now?

Do you eat fruit? Health carbs? Brown rice, sweet potato, quinoa? Cheese?
  • Today I had weet-bix with full cream milk then 2 eggs with bacon and cheese. Then biltong and drank a ensure shake to help gain weight then had chicken and butter nut and corn. I don't really eat bread or potatoes or rice no pastas do you think I should start eating more of those type of things?

Yes, try eating more carbs. Seems to be lacking from your diet at the moment.

honestly OP ditch the whole "healthy vs unhealthy" mantra. As long as you hit your calorie/macro/micro goals for the day there is nothing wrong with filling in the rest of your calories with ice cream, bagels, pasta, cookies etc….

Why don't you eat bread, potatoes, rice, or pasta? Do you like them? If not, have you tried quinoa or barley?

Have you tried sunflower butter? It is a good substitute for peanut butter. Also, coconut butter is really yummy:)

Work out how many calories you need per day to gain at a rate comfortable to you 1lb every week, 1lb every 2 weeks etc. Then calculate your macros how much protein, carb, fat you need.

It could be your diet is fine you just need larger portions it could work out to be easier to incorporate higher density foods or simply foods that taste nicer.

What type of training are you doing? E.g weight training is known to increase your appetite if you struggle with volume of food.
  • Thanks for all the comments I will up my pastas and breads. And will try the smoothies thanks :)

Switch weetbix for granola (higher fat), cook in oil (coconut), use fattier cuts of meat (chicken thigh, fattier mince or steak), more carb dense vegetables, and fruit, add grains, eat dessert! Use olive oil on your salads, make smoothies or have juice to drink some of your calories.

You don't have to stay "healthy" for every single food choice, but if that's your choice there are plenty of calorie dense options with healthy ingredients. make yourself some sweet treats, or buy some - they could be grain or gluten free, dairy free, all wholesome ingredients if you choose! Eat a bit of chocolate or icecream, again, there are "healthy" but calorie dense versions.
