Fitness as a Job Requirement?

Does anyone else here have a career or a job where your physical appearance and being fit is actually a requirement? I understand the importance of fitness for your own health, well being, confidence and overall positive self image... but I am wondering how many people have to be fit as part of their livelihood?

I would think that there are a number of jobs that being fit is required: lifeguard, firefighter, fitness instructor, dance instructor, just to name a few. I would think that police officer would need to be in good physical fitness because of some of the demands of their job too, but it's probably not the case for many. Also I know that anyone who drives public transportation, such as a bus driver, has to have a physical every year or so (maybe not be at an ideal weight) but they have to show that they don't have any major physical issues such as seizures, etc.

I don't necessarily have to LOOK fit, but my job does require me to be physically fit and active.

Well......I did see a couple of EMT's helping at an accident scene a couple of weeks ago. Neither of them looked anywhere near being physically fit. But, who knows, maybe they are a couple of lucky ones whose weight has nothing to do at all with how healthy they are.

Many jobs require physical fitness. Pro sports, firefighter, police officers, laborers, etc. Coincidentally, lots and lots of these people look pretty good naked.

I'm an overweight LEO. I think we should be more fit than we are. We rarely chase anyone anymore because of liability and because radios and helicopters help. Grip strength, upper body strength and back strength would do a lot to prevent injuries. That being said, officers who project respect and deport themselves professionally, use physical force a fraction of the time of those who don't.
