I used to. Need to get back to it for sure.0

I am a late night owl. I never eat breakfast until 1 or 2 pm so my dinner is about 11 or so. I am up 5-6 hrs after that.0
-
I eat 60% of my calories for my afternoon snack, dinner and an evening snack.0

Hell no...I'm usually still at the office...if I'm lucky, I'm just getting home or will be home shortly after 6.
There is no magic to not eating after 6...none at all. It simply came about as yet another way/method to restrict calories...that's it...there's nothing more magical than that about it.0 -

If I stopped eating at 6pm, I would freak out from hunger halfway through my 5am workout. Why would I want to do that?0
-
No, I don't eat 2 hours before bed. Otherwise I wake up starving and cant get through a morning jog, I want to come home and eat everything and not my oats.0
-
I did that for about a week to combat insomnia. (Yes, it helped with my sleep issues.) I think it's entirely up to you. If you like it and it's working for you then go for it.0
-
I eat about 1/2 of my calories after 6:00 PM (dinner and late night snack). I don't sleep well on an empty stomach.0
-
It's all about calories in and calories out. I always make sure I have a very big dinner as close to bedtime as possible so I can sleep. I don't usually get hungry until early the next afternoon which works well with 16/8 fasting. I make sure I do not go over my calories each day and I have had no problem losing weight, 60 pounds in 5 months.0
-
I used to try that but I get out of the office at 6pm. I usually eat dinner around 8pm.0
-
I can't. I eat dinner with my kids between 5-5:30, so I always need a light snack after they go to bed (usually around 8:00).0
-
If it works for you. It still comes down to calories in vs. calories out.0

Nope. I have dinner around 6:30-7:00 and a snack at 9:30 (right before bed). If I don't eat right before bed I'll wake up early and want to chew my arm off.0
-
..but...bed snacks...0
-
I go to bed at 7 and don't put a hard cap on eating after 6! Don't judge me by my early bedtime - I'm out of work by 9 a.m.0

Are you a mogwai?

I put a hard cap on eating after 9PM and before 6AM.... I was unable to achieve this until I went LCHF, 12 weeks ago.0

It is 11pm here in the UK and I am about to tuck into a bowl of melon chunks and yoghurt. I have accounted for it in my days calories so doesn't matter when I eat it.0

I train people from 5-7pm most days of the week. So I usually don't eat dinner till 8pm. Then snack till 11:30pm.

No reason to do this. A calorie is a calorie regardless of when it is eaten. Do yourself a favor and don't set silly rules for you to follow. Eat when you are hungry, eat as close as possible to your MFP calorie guide, and move as much as possible. That is all you need.0

I disagree with your statement. I don't eat anything after 6pm and I lost 80lbs in 1 year. Granted, I worked hard but I ate at the top of every hour from 9am to about 2pm and worked out from 6pm-7pm. I do have a protein shake, but nothing else.0 -
When I don't eat after 7 PM or 8 PM, that's when I realize the greatest and most consistent weight loss. I found the easiest way to make that happen is for me to avoid TV at night. I've got plenty of other activities to do in the evening, so I don't really miss TV at all....or all those commercials that are constantly peddling food in my direction.0

That wasn't magic. You had a calorie deficit. Period. The timing of it only matters if it helps you stick to your calorie deficit. You could wake up and eat in the middle of the night and as long as you have a calorie deficit you'll lose weight.0 -

what part of my statement are you disagreeing with? You are in a deficit of energy and thus lost weight...it has nothing to do with the timing of your intake...you are making a spurious correlation.
I lost 40 Lbs and I eat dinner every night at around 8:30 PM. Losing weight is simply a mathematical equation.0 -

Same here. I lost weight and competed in a bodybuilding competition all while having a snack between 9:00-10:00 PM. It wasn't magic, it was the calorie balance.0 -
No, truth be told as long as you exercise and create a deficit you'll still lose weight. Just as someone told me (A certified and well known dietitian) "The only reason why you shouldn't eat after 6 pm is because you don't feel like eating after 6pm. Otherwise there is NO reason you shouldn't". I eat dinner everyday post workout after 11 pm. INCLUDING carbs for muscle repair0

I think what she means is that she is busting her calories at that point in the day. So there is a few solutions to this problem:
1. Stop eating at 6PM
2. Start eating later in the day
3. Eating less calories earlier in the day so you have some wiggle room in the evening
I personally use the 2nd tip the most. I usually have breakfast in the late morning/early afternoon, that way I don't run out of calories before by the end of the day. I also have found that eating a protein and fat based breakfast keeps me feeling fuller for longer!
There's no magic trick, it's all about finding a way to eat that satisfies you and helps you keep within your calorie goal! I hope this helps, good luck!0 -

So that worked for you but there's still nothing magical about it. I eat later in the evening but then don't have anything until 11-ish the next day. Nothing special about doing that. It's just the way I like to arrange my calorie intake. I also eat a burrito almost every day but I don't think that's some weight loss secret either.0
