Surely this cannot be right?!

So I got to thinking today about my daily calorie allowance. And then got to thinking that the RDA for calories for men is 2500. Now my allowance on here is 1670 which means I need 2670 to maintain weight, as I have 2 lbs per week loss set.
Surely I cannot be at 2670 to maintain at my starting weight of 240lbs, 10's of lbs overweight, when 2500 is the RDA for the average man to maintain weight.

Tey also have recomendations for average exercise too. Average is just that....there are variables on either side of the spectrum. Lifestyle, genetics, quality, etc. Too many factors at play here.0

Maybe....but consider that the site will not give you too large of a deficit. Even if you set "Lose 2 lobs a week" as a goal, not everyone will have a 1000 cal per day deficit.
The more you have to lose, the larger your deficit can safely be, but not so large that you are losing 5+ lbs a week (as an example).0 -
Heavier people need more calories to maintain their weight than do thin ones. You have more weight to move and have bigger muscles, which burn more calories.0
