I started loggin my food into myfistnesspal march 1st. I was abe to lose 6 pounds in March. I decided that in April I would start exercising as well. Ever since I started an excercise program(PIYO) I haven't lost a pound. It is beyond frustrating. Any advice or tips?

When you start a new exercise program, your body will retain water to help repair the muscles. After a few weeks on the program you should notice weight loss again. Make sure you're properly hydrated, otherwise your body will continue to retain water.

First of all April is only 1/3 of the way complete. Not yet time to panic.

Starting a new exercise routine can cause your muscles to retain water for self-repair. Give it more time. Keep doing as you were. Be accurate & honest on your food log, and realize that water weight happens. To get a better idea of how its going, compare your May 1st weight with your April 1st weight.

It's only been 10 days! As the others have said your muscles will be retaining water, and fluctuations and stalls happen anyway. Weight loss isn't linear, you won't lose weight every week - some you'll stay the same, some you'll gain. Just stick at it!
  • Thank you so much for the advise and encouragment. I didn't think about the water retention but that makes sense. I will work on drinking more water.

It's normal when starting a new exercise program to retain water.

Also, don't eat back all the calories earned if you're using MFP to guesstimate calories burned in workouts...

What everyone else said - muscle repair = water retention. Also, whenever I start something new - I try to wait six weeks before evaluating if I notice a difference. After six weeks, I can usually tell some sort of difference. But it takes time.

Completely agree with water retention but also I would recommend checking you body measurements. While a pound of fat and a pound of muscle weigh the same the pound of muscle is way smaller. I have found the weeks that weigh in and haven't lost anything if I check my measurements they are usually lower.
