28 and shedding weight!

Hey!

I've been a member of MFP for a couple of years now...but I have never really stuck to it! Now is the time to change that...although I need some encouragment!

I have struggled with my weight since a child and reached my biggest at around the age of 16, when I was approximately 22 stone. I lost a lot of weight over the few years after that and have been about 13 stone for the past 10 years. I am about 5'10"

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my appearance. However, I've got a serious case of the 'the last hurdle' and just can't seen to lose that final bit of weight to get me down to my ideal 11 stone.

I consider my diet to be pretty healthy, often opting for plant based meals/vegan/vegetatian, simply because they make me feel better than highly processed foods. However I KNOW my weakness is the sugar...and the alcohol...and I seem to find any reason to 'treat' myself.

In regards to exercise, I love exercising, especially yoga! However I've been given the gift of extremely flat feet, suffering from tight legs, swollen feet etc and so this limits me to what exercise I can do (running, long walks a no no). Keeping up yoga is a must to keep my feet happy but I don't mind as I love it! HOwever, I know I need to practice more often than I do.

Ok, ramble over!

I guess I know where I'm going wrong. I just need to be strict on myself and strengthen my will power.

From the posts I have read over the years, I've seen how supportive you are as a community and I guess I'd just like to participate in that and get a wee boost to take the next step in my life.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Take it one day at a time. Especially with the alcohol; so many empty calories! Sometimes when you look at the big picture, it can be overwhelming and it becomes easy to say, "I'll start this tomorrow.". You KNOW how to lose weight because you've already done that. So have I, but this time I'm doing it the right way through MFP. Exercise when you can, but more important, eat/drink less calories. You'll get there!

Sounds like you're doing a great job, and you know your weak areas. Have you tried having a 'cheat' meal that is calculated and planned? That way you can look forward to those treat items but they are planned so you can control the amounts and not feel like you're cheating as they are part of your healthy lifestyle? I find they really help with my motivation.

I've never really used any 'tricks' to lose weight. In the past I changed my diet completely (I would eat a box of chocolated before a take-away dinner most nights) and started exercising too, so the weight dropped off.

I've always been a bit anti-diet in the sense that I'd rather make lifestyle changes for good! However, tips on how to curve that sugar craving, perk myself up when feeling low instead of scoffing a chocolate bar etc would be appreciated :)

    Thanks guys!

    Big up x
