Hi, i am new and have noticed the last couple of days that I have gone into the red just for protein. Yest by 10 and today 17? What happens if I don't keep within the green?
I still have a possible 250 calories left as well

When using MFP numbers I tend to think of protein and fiber as a MINIMUM to hit - not a maximum - therefore being in the red is good in my eyes.0

I have been looking at it the same way and then with Sugar and Fat I look at those as a maximum so I do my best to keep them in the green.0 -
OP - MFP allows you to set your own goals too. Some people will eat higher fat (on purpose) it just works for them.
I treat protein as a minimum too. I changed my settings to track fiber instead of sugar (no health issues). I do try to minimize added sugar...but MFP gives me ALL sugar numbers.0 -
As long as you're not over in all 3 (protein, carbs, fat) then aiming for a range of +/- some amount that seems reasonable for you is understandable. Would drive us all crazy if we had to hit macros precisely.
And in reality, if you're over on all 3 but just slightly - go for an extra 15-30 minute walk or chalk it up as a lower than intended deficit for the day.0 -
Personally, I think MFP's protein goal is far too low, especially considering that I'm lifting weights to maintain muscle mass. I went into my goals and changed it to something I consider more reasonable.0
